Today, Queensland mourns the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of State of Australia for a remarkable 70 years, the longest in Australian history from 1952 to 2022. Her Majesty will be remembered with much love and respect by many Queenslanders.

Migration Queensland (MQ) representatives Lin Han and Cynthia Chen gave a warm welcome to newly-settled business migrants at an event hosted by Enjoy Life and AusDe Migration.
The event was attended by migrants from China nominated by MQ for the 132 Business Talent and 188 Business Innovation visas and was a great opportunity for attendees to connect and celebrate the upcoming Chinese Mid-Autumn 🌜Moon Festival in Brisbane.

Migration Queensland's Southeast Asia Roadshow is underway! Migration Queensland (MQ) Manager Greg McKean is meeting with clients in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia to promote Queensland as the best place to invest, migrate to, and live in. The turnout has been fantastic with hundreds attending across the events and seminars, and interest from prospective business migrants is strong.

An important announcement from the Minister for Home Affairs at the Jobs and Skills Summit today: The Australian Government will add 35,000 places to the national skilled migration program, totalling to 195,000 places available to skilled migrants for 2022/23.
The Minister also announced that the Australian Government will "move away from the focus on short-term migrants, toward permanency, citizenship and nation building".

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – Update on the Migration Queensland Program Opening for FY2022-23
The Migration Queensland (MQ) Program will open TOMORROW on 16 August 2022 with Queensland’s new nomination criteria and factsheets published on the MQ website (tomorrow 16 August 2022, not available until then): https://migration.qld.gov.au/
Skilled Migration Program:
Migration Queensland will only accept a brand new EOI submitted on Skillselect from the 16 August 2022, updating existing EOI’s submitted prior to the 16 August 2022 will not be invited. Please ensure you have carefully read and understood the new criteria relevant to your stream or pathway, and that you meet criteria before submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).
This 2022-23 financial year Skilled Migration Program will be open to both onshore and offshore applicants, and provide pathways for skilled workers, graduates, and small business owners.
Business Migration Program:
The business program will continue to be open to 188 – Business Innovation stream, the 188 – Investor stream and the 188 – Significant Investor stream. From tomorrow, 16 August 2022, the new 188 – Entrepreneur stream will also open.

Martin Zhang is a Queensland state-nominated business migrant who now calls the Queensland outback home. He established an aquaculture facility in Esk to breed tiger prawns inland and was recently featured on the TV series "Movin' to the Country".
