The Salty Seahorse Library

Hey everyone, I've officially opened the library!

The Salty Seahorse Library: a diverse collection of works that celebrates all things marine!

Themes featured in the library are autobiographies by solo sailors, non-fiction books detailing famous events in yachting, zines, fishing manuals, women in sail, works documenting histories of seafaring communities, sea shanty and poetry literature, survival at sea publications, meteorology and oceanic guides, and marine diesel mechanic TAFE textbooks.

Many of the books are rare and out of print.

The library also has an extensive collection of nautical instruments, charts, ropes, sailing safety equipment, mechanic tools and an array of fishing gear.

The Salty Seahorse hosts regular fishing outings, knots and navigation sessions, colregs classes and salt water on screen evenings.

It is an all inclusive space and welcomes people from all walks of life. Sailing has an unfortunate stigma of being exclusive and only a wealthy mans endeavour. It doesnt have to be this way. I’m a young woman who makes a living as a deckhand, and I founded the library to encourage people to be interested in the marine world- it’s an exciting place- the big blue paddock!

In short, the library is grotty yachty friendly and always will be!

The Salty Seahorse Library is on Jagera country. The library acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land and water, and that sovereignty was never ceded.
