Upgrading to a smart home, or just want better protection and awareness of any fires or smoke?
A smart smoke detector is the solution. Devices like the Nest allow you greater control over your smoke alarm system and even alert you via cell phone if an alarm goes off when your not home.
That's some great peace of mind. You can be anywhere in the world and know that your home is safe from fire, and call for assistance the moment there might be an issue.
Residential and Commercial property damage caused by fires is well over $500 million AUD every year.
The last time the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council published cost estimates was in 2013-2014. Residential insurance claims related to fire damage totaled over $135 million. Commercial insurance claims related to fire damage totaled over $702 million.
You can better protect your property, investment, and everything within it by upgrading your smoke alarms to a more reliable and effective system. It also doesn't require any battery changes, and no more annoying beeps!
Why the changes to smoke alarm requirements in Queensland?
As per the Australian Government's published statistics:
"In 2013–14, Australian fire agencies attended 101,867 fire related incidents, of which 19,524 (19 per cent) involved structure fires... in 2013–14 no smoke alarm was present in 12,000 (31 per cent) of dwelling fires while a smoke alarm was present but did not operate in 19 per cent of fires."
Combined that is 50% of fires in dwellings having no smoke alarm or inactive alarms.
In Queensland alone, the QFR (Queensland Fire and Rescue) attends on average over 2400 structural fires PER YEAR, and that number is increasing annually.
Keep your family, your home, and your belongings safe by ensuring you have an up-to-date, legally compliant smoke alarm!
As per the QLD Fire and Emergency Services Department:
"Old ionisation smoke alarms can be slow to react, and may not give you or your loved ones enough time to escape.
That's why there's new legislation to install photoelectric smoke alarms, which have been proven to be more effective in the domestic home.
Upgrading your smoke alarms today could save a life."
