Team AJ Shines at Grace Lutheran College Swim Meet!

This weekend was a splash of triumph as our swim stars, guided by the wonderful Miss Yoko, showcased their skills at the Grace Lutheran College swim meet!

🥇🥈 Ragen (8-year-old champ) soared through the water, clinching gold in the 50m Butterfly and Backstroke, and silver in Breaststroke and Freestyle.

🥇🥈 Naomi (our 8-year-old swimming star) dazzled with gold in 25m Backstroke and Breaststroke, and a silver in 25m Freestyle.

Their stellar performances are a testament to their hard work, achieving personal bests after just two weeks of focused training post the Morton Bay swim meet. Balancing the physical and mental challenges, they've excelled, showing what dedication and great coaching can achieve!

Wrap up in your cosiest winter woolies and dive into our Winter Water Safety Week! Learning to swim in clothes is not just fun—it's a crucial safety skill. This week, experience what it’s like to navigate the water while dressed, as we recreate the unexpected in a secure and controlled setting.

Why it's important: Swimming in clothing helps students learn to manage and adapt to being in water while wearing extra layers, which can be life-saving.

Labour Day Closure Announcement
AJ's Swim School will be closed on Monday, 6th May (Labour Day.) We hope you enjoy the holiday with your loved ones!

Please note: Our sports centre will remain open with adjusted hours from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Lest We Forget - AJ Swim School ANZAC Day Closure

This ANZAC Day, our swim school will be closed to honour those who have served. We will resume activities and reflect on the spirit of courage and sacrifice.

Please note, the sports centre will operate on limited hours from 1 PM to 11 PM.

Dive into the world of Miss Judy, a proud mom whose journey at AJ's started alongside her daughters from as young as six months old. With a love for swimming that rivals her enthusiasm for teaching, Judy finds joy and relaxation in the backstroke and shares this passion with every learner. Off the pool deck, she's a family girl at heart, enjoying parkruns and adventures. Dream swim? The crystal-clear waters of Whitehaven Beach. For Judy, the real win is in the shared smiles and achievements, urging everyone to trust in their journey and their instructors.

Meet Miss Shanga, whose swimming journey came full circle at AJ Swim School, evolving from student to beloved teacher. With a passion that bridges freestyle swimming and the marvels of the cardiovascular system, she's not just a swim instructor but also a dedicated university student studying cardiac sonography.

When she's not making waves in the pool or diving into her studies, she enjoys Minecraft and the entire Marvel universe.

Shanga cherishes the connections made during Saturday classes, especially the heartwarming greetings from our youngest swimmers. Her guiding philosophy for new swimmers is trust and encouragement, always aiming to foster confidence and joy in the water.

Meet James, the heart of AJ Swim School!

As a dedicated duty officer and swim instructor, he found his calling through his son's swimming journey, discovering the rewards of teaching along the way.

With a love for freestyle's speed, James embodies the spirit of determination and strength. Batman may be his hero, but James is ours, with his passions extending beyond the pool to the gym, travel, and motorbikes.

Dream swim? The crystal waters of Greece. His pride shines brightest seeing students overcome their challenges, wearing their success as his badge of honour. James's advice? "Relax and enjoy the water."

Meet Miss Bree, our vibrant swim instructor at AJ Swim School!

With a heart full of passion for teaching and a spirit like a dolphin, Bree adores watching her students achieve their goals amidst fun and laughter. Her favourite stroke? The butterfly kick, bringing her closer to feeling the freedom of the sea.

Inspired by Groot's unexpected might, Bree embodies resilience and joy in every lesson. Off the pool deck, she's all about athletics and empowering young dreams.

Dream swim destination? The crystal clear waters of Fiji, swimming alongside turtles. Bree's most cherished moments? Seeing the wide smiles and silly moments of her students. Her advice: "Just be yourself and have fun.

Meet Miss Yoko from AJ Swim School!

With her roots in Japan and a past as a competitive swimmer, Yoko brings a wealth of knowledge and a love for teaching to our community. As a dedicated teacher for our baby program and learn-to-swim classes, her favourite stroke is the breaststroke, crediting it for her fitness. Outside the pool, Yoko enjoys importing rice and dreams of swimming in the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

Her advice to someone learning how to swim? Enjoy, make friends, and trust your teachers. Here’s to creating more memorable moments and smiles with Miss Yoko!
