Stage of Origin 2026
Today in the Senior Toddler Room, the children were excited to share which team their family supports. The educators encouraged the children to look at the team pictures and tell us about their family’s favourite team by pointing or saying, “this one.” This helped the children build connections between home and their learning environment while developing communication skills and confidence in expressing their choices.
To extend the experience, the educators created a fun beanbag tossing game using two recycling boxes with different team signs. The children were encouraged to choose their favourite team and throw a beanbag into the matching box. The children showed great enthusiasm, enjoyed making choices, and participated happily with their peers.
This experience supported the children’s sense of belonging, decision-making skills, and social interactions. We wish both teams the very best of luck for tonight’s game!

During Road Safety Week, the Senior Toddler educators collaborated to create engaging small-world experiences for the children to explore and discover. The learning environments included roads, roundabouts, crossings, car parks, and traffic signs using toy vehicles and loose parts to encourage imaginative play and conversations about staying safe on the road.
The children showed great interest as they moved the vehicles around the different road setups, practised stopping and going, and explored how to safely use crossings and follow road signs. These experiences supported the children’s social development as they shared resources, took turns, and worked together during play.
To extend the learning, the children also participated in a creative collage activity, making their own traffic lights. They carefully selected colours, glued the pieces into place, and discussed what each light meant. This hands-on activity supported the children’s fine motor skills, colour recognition, and early understanding of sequencing, while reinforcing important road safety messages.
Through play, creativity, and collaborative learning experiences, the children developed a growing awareness of road safety and how traffic lights and road rules help keep everyone safe in the community.

Thank a First Responder Day June 10 2026
Thank a First Responder Day is a national day of appreciation created by Fortem Australia to recognise the extraordinary service of police, fire, ambulance, SES, marine rescue, and other emergency service personnel, along with the families who support them behind the scenes.
Why this day matters
First responders routinely face trauma, high stress, and operational pressure in the service of others. While much of their work happens quietly and without recognition, the impact is felt in every community across the country.
Thank a First Responder Day exists to remind first responders that their efforts are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. Research consistently shows that feeling recognised and connected has a meaningful impact on wellbeing, resilience, and mental fitness. Sometimes, a simple gesture can go a long way.
Our centre will be hosting a Morning Tea and dress up day for our families and local First Responders. We are collecting donations on our Grassrootz page as well as cash donations in centre. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. Please help us help Fortem Australia support our First Responders and families.

Senior Toddler children were explored a playful STEAM experience called the “Paper Towel Caterpillar.” The children were immediately curious as they watched plain paper towels transform into colourful, moving caterpillars when water was added. Using markers, the children carefully decorated their paper towels with bright patterns and designs before rolling them tightly into caterpillar shapes.
As the children used spray bottles, excitement filled the learning space. They observed closely as the paper towels slowly absorbed the water and began to expand, wiggle, and grow. Many children shared their predictions about what might happen next, using language such as “It’s getting bigger, or " It's moving!”
Through this hands-on investigation, the children were introduced to early scientific concepts, including capillary action and absorption. They explored cause and effect while strengthening fine motor skills through colouring, rolling and spraying water. The activity also encouraged problem-solving, creativity, and sustained concentration as children experimented with different amounts of water and observed their caterpillars' changing movements.
