Last night, Come To Daddy Brisbane in West End was the target of a homophobic incident, with flag bunting outside the venue damaged.
This isn’t the kind of community we believe in. We stand together, support one another, and respond with strength and pride.
Thank you to Renee Coffey MP for stepping up in solidarity and helping replace the flags and bunting.
If you can, please support Come To Daddy. They’ve launched a GoFundMe for security cameras (link in comments), and there’s a call to make Daddy “even more gayer”! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️❤️
Rainbow Labor QLD will continue to advocate for stronger protections for LGBTQIA+ people across Queensland, and to stand with our community every step of the way.
Touch one, touch all.

Rainbow Labor members had an opportunity today to organise and discuss the future of our party today.
Our unified goal was simple:
💜💛continue building momentum to protect intersex children
🤝Restore puberty blocker access for trans youth; and
🏥ensure that healthcare is delivered equally for all members of our community.
This years agenda is focused on fighting for fairness and equality.
Our members gave up their Saturday to share stories, focus on the issues and celebrate q***r joy.
Nothing about us without us, together we’ll continue to build a better community for us all.

Every year on March 31st, our community comes together to mark International Transgender Day of Awareness.
While other days on the calendar are rightfully set aside for mourning and remembrance, TDOV was created specifically to celebrate the living.
We see you. We celebrate you. And we are so proud to stand with you.
But we know that true visibility is not a substitute for safety, and celebration cannot happen when those in power do not listen to our most vulnerable communities.
To truly honor our trans communities and comrades, we must fiercely protect them from the systemic attacks occurring in our own state.
Here is how we take the load off the trans community and fight back together:
1. Be visibly supportive
2. Speak out to your local representatives, MPs and leaders
3. Elevate trans voices and educate our local communities
Let’s build a Queensland where every young person—no matter their gender identity—has the right to safe, affirming, and accessible healthcare.

Today, we honour Transgender Day of Remembrance. We remember those whose lives have been lost to transphobic violence and hate and reaffirm our commitment to equality, safety and dignity for all.
We acknowledge that for many people in the Queensland trans community the fight for their rights continues. Right now the LNP Government continues to prevent trans teens from accessing life saving healthcare.
We recognise the activists and the community resisting this process and continue to stand in solidarity with our transgender community.

You just can’t make this up.
Yesterday Justice Callaghan handed down his decision striking down the LNP’s hold on gender affirming care for transgender young people.
His honour noted that the process of making the decision was the mechanism for setting the ban aside.
A process that allowed for no consultation with health professionals, clinicians, patients, advocates and parents.
In response the Health Minister has used his extraordinary powers to reintroduce the ban under specific “public interest” sections of health legislation.
The next step was proper consultation and engagement with people who understood the complexities of the system.
Clinicians who lead children and families through a long journey before making any pharmaceutical decisions.
The LNP have made it clear they do not support gender affirming care.
We need you to join us tonight for a snap rally at King George Square - 6pm.
We will be assembling by the statues just prior.
Join us and Queensland Labor to show our support for proper process and appropriate consultation.

Today, Rainbow Labor Queensland proudly celebrates International Le***an Day, a moment to honour the strength, compassion, and unwavering advocacy of the le***an community.
Take a moment to reflect on the impact of le***an leadership in our LGBTIQ+ community. Let’s celebrate, uplift, and continue the work together.

The first pride was a riot.
When trans rights are under attack Rainbow Labor stands up and fights back.
When discrimination and hate rear their ugly head our responsibility is visibility and solidarity.
Equality isn’t achieved overnight and has to be jealously guarded.
Today we marched loudly and proudly.
Together we keep the fight going and the slow march towards equality rolling.

🌈 Queensland Rainbow Labor was proud to attend the inaugural Carswell Forum, a powerful gathering of community members, activists and government representatives, united in the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.
This landmark event honours the legacy of Phil Carswell, a passionate advocate, cherished member of Rainbow Labor Queensland and tireless champion for LGBTQIA+ equality. Phil’s work laid the foundation for so much of the progress we see today, and his absence is deeply felt.
As we came together to share lived experiences, celebrate achievements and face challenges head-on, we were reminded that change happens when communities lead.
Together, we will continue building a more just, inclusive Queensland for all. 🏳️🌈

This week, Australia took the first steps towards allowing full blood donation for gay and bisexual men, trans women by allowing plasma donations.
These new donors will boost our life-saving plasma supply and allow our community to support those in need.
We await the transition to full blood and platelet donations eagerly but celebrate this great outcome.
Activists inside Rainbow Labor Queensland championed this issue over many years and we congratulate them for their dedication. In 2025 it’s vital we continue the work of dismantling the structures of discrimination left over from the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
This is a health mobilisation unlike anything seen in Australia before - a significant win for inclusion and wellbeing! +

🌈 Shantay we’re slaying at Wynnum this weekend. 🌈
Following the success of the 2024 Wynnum Bay Pride, get ready residents as we paint the waterfront rainbow again and celebrate our PRIDE in style at Wynnum Fringe.
If you’re free this Sunday, join our Labor team and new federal member for Bonner to march at 12pm - starting at Pandanus Beach and finishing at Bayside Park for the festival.
At this time, we should lovingly declare that we are proud to be who we are in our communities. This is your opportunity to march together and wave the rainbow banner high!
For more details to march with rainbowlabor queensland, shoot us a message on our page or email [email protected].
