This holiday season can bring unique challenges for trans, non-binary and gender diverse young people, but your support can make all the difference.
Whether it's navigating family conversations, honouring their identity at gatherings, or simply being their safe person, you can show them they're loved exactly as they are.
Ready to show up for the young person in your life over the holidays? Our family and ally guide has practical tips to help. Read here: https://transcend.org.au/latest-news/supporting-trans-and-non-binary-young-people-during-the-holidays/

Sign the petition to protect trans healthcare!!
Trans and gender-diverse Queenslanders deserve a health system that truly works for them, one that prioritises health, safety, inclusion, and care, rather than ideology, bigotry and division. This is not just the healthcare system that trans people deserve, but the health system that all Queenslanders, from all backgrounds deserve.
Unfortunately, 2025 has seen our health system regress. Under Tim Nicholls and the LNP State Government, they have done everything in their power to obliterate our healthcare system. We’ve seen hospital expansions stopped and workers sacked, cuts to programs designed to attract new health workers, the banning of life saving pill testing, and so much more. Amongst these changes, is one of the most shameful actions this Government has taken; their decision to restrict access to gender-affirming care for children under the age of 18.
Puberty blockers are widely recognised as best medical practice for trans youth. They are safe, reversible, they change lives, and they save lives. They stop people from going through the irreversible changes of puberty that can cause dysphoria and distress in adulthood. Gender Affirming Care is consistently shown to improve mental-health outcomes, and restricting access to this care puts young people at serious risk.
In 2024, the former Labor State Government commissioned an independent review into Gender-Affirming Care in Queensland. This review found not only that puberty blockers were safe and reversible for young people, but also that staffing and funding for these services should be increased. An independent review in New South Wales also came to similar conclusions. Despite this, the Crisafulli Government has initiated a new review, with a panel that includes trans people, and no experts in trans healthcare, making it clear that this decision is politically and ideologically motivated, and harms some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

So please, sign the new petition. Reaching the 10,000 mark this time would be a significant achievement and would send a clear message that Queensland stands with us.
