Connected learning community 📚
After sharing a stack of books taller than our school captains, classes were invited to help choose the next books for our school library. Working with a group budget, students became library text selectors - thinking about the books they love, the books their friends might borrow, and the titles that would make our shelves even more exciting.
This is what reading culture looks like - students talking about books, making great choices, and helping shape a library that belongs to them.

Excellence in Learning:
This week students enjoyed celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime, with this year’s featured book, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton. This energetic underdog story follows Luna Roo as she discovers her inner strength on the field, making it a wonderful and inspiring read for young audiences. Students joined the live reading event during Mrs H’s library lessons and created wonderful artwork inspired by the story, now proudly displayed in the library. Here are some photos from the celebrations!

Community Connections
Wednesday 27 May is Wear Your Colours Day! Whether you're supporting your State of Origin team for the big game or simply celebrating your favourite sporting team or colour, students are welcome to wear their colours for the day.
Dig out your jerseys, scarves, hats or even just a bright shirt!

Connected learning community. A big shout out to Mr May, one of our engineering parents, who brought his 3D printer to Under Eights Day and quickly became something of a pied piper for curious young designers. The children loved watching ideas turn to mini-creations, and it was a great reminder that learning is even richer when our community shares its talents with us.

Excellence in Learning:
What an incredible experience for our students at the STEM Girl Power Camp held at the Translational Research Centre (TRI) in Woolloongabba! Today, our students joined Year 5 girls from across Queensland for a day of inspiring STEM activities, leadership development, and hands-on learning. The excitement and inspiration from the day was unforgettable, with students already dreaming about future careers in STEM. We’re so proud of our girls for embracing every opportunity and representing our school so wonderfully! 💙🔬🚀

On Wednesday 27 May 2026 at 12.00 pm AEST, Kenmore State School will be joining millions of children, parents, teachers, and library lovers across Australia and beyond who will come together to read Luna Roo at the same time — celebrating the joy of reading, storytelling and connection. We will be partaking in the occasion by Mrs H reading Luna Roo to students in their library lessons.
Furthermore, we’re also excited to take on the 2026 Premier’s Reading Challenge and inspire a love of reading, imagination, and learning in our young readers.
