This May marks exactly 13 years since I founded Design Good Design Studio, to aid the efforts of organisations working towards creating positive social change.
After 13 years, I've made the bittersweet decision to wrap up the studio. Bitter in the way that it's sad to call an end my design work for such amazing causes. But, sweet in the way that it will enable me to focus my attention on the PhD in social/environmental psychology that I am just about to commence. I'm excited to be continuing my work aiding efforts towards creating positive social change by conducting psychological research into climate collective action.
Huge thanks to all of the wonderful people and organisations that I've had the pleasure of working with, and that have enabled me to keep my work going for well over a decade.
e.g., 350.org Australia, Amnesty International Australia, Australian Conservation Foundation, Australian Education Union (AEU), Australian Marine Conservation Society, Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), Change.org, The Climate Reality Project - Australia & Pacific, Environment Victoria, Friends of the Earth Australia, GetUp!, Greenpeace Australia Pacific, The Australian Greens, Market Forces, Nature NSW, Queensland Conservation Council, Solar Citizens, The Sunrise Project, WWF-Australia, etc.
A selection of my design work from over the years will still be available from my Redbubble shop at https://designgood.redbubble.com
Here's to a more equitable, sustainable, and compassionate future.
Cheers,
Jarren Nylund, Principal Designer/Creative Director

I just wrote a piece about the climate change merchandise I designed for the AYCC back in 2011.
The “I’m not as smart as a climate scientist, but I’m smart enough to listen to them” design ended up being gifted to Tony Abbott in jest.

In 2016, I was given the honour of designing Amnesty International Australia’s “Defending Lives” booklet. It outlined the values and vision of the organisation for the following four years.

I truly believe in the power of t-shirts in creating change. They are one of the most inexpensive forms of advertising, allowing one to express their values to others without having to say a word.
After designing campaign materials for social movements for over a decade, I've accumulated quite a few t-shirt designs. And I have just made a selection of them available on my store.

I wrote a short article about the Climate Change Election billboard I designed for Environment Victoria in 2019 and how climate change relates to the incredible 2022 election outcome.

Feeling quite honoured to have had some of my work for Market Forces featured today by Adbusters, the culture-jamming magazine that helped inspire me so many years ago to do the kind of work that I do now.

What do you call selling electric cars while you build coal power plants? Vertically integrated climate destruction.
We love innovative tech solutions to the climate crisis, but technological progress alone will never be a solution, because what we consistently see is innovation co-opted by capitalism to further accelerate a planetary death machine.
We have to move beyond hyper-individualistic tech solutions. Why not bus? Why not bike? Why not build our communities close enough that we can walk?
Why not do less?
is the only way out of this crisis.
