'New Zealand is going to ban foreign home buyers'

New Zealand will ban foreigners from buying existing homes as the government is trying to make property more affordable for their citizens. Prime Minister said that foreign speculators will no longer be able to buy houses in New Zealand starting from next year. This aim at stopping foreign speculators buying houses and driving up prices. House prices have surged in recent years, driving the average value in Auckland to more than NZ$1 million and making it difficult for many younger Kiwis to buy their first home. Hence, foreign buyers of existing homes have become the target of governments globally with increased taxation & buying restriction. Auckland is ranked the 4th least affordable property market in the world and this measure might be able to mitigate the effect.

'What to expect from the housing market in 2018 in AUS?'

In accordance with Christopher's Housing Boom & Bust Report, Brisbane's property market will experience slightly stronger gains than it was in 2017, with property prices forecast to rise between 3% to 7%. For the market in Sydney and Melbourne's, it will experience a relatively modest slowdown. Offsetting a slowdown in Melbourne & Sydney will be first-year property market recoveries for Perth & Darwin and an ongoing real estate boom in Hobart's property market, which is set to record the highest level of accelerated price growth of any capital city next year at between 8%-13%. The forecast for all capital cities assumed no changes in interest rates next year.

'Brisbane is becoming more livable city than Melbourne.'

We knew that Melbourne has been names as the world's most livable city for a record seventh year in a row. However, the new research has confirmed life in Brisbane is actually better than Melbourne. Brisbane has cemented itself as the nation's lifestyle capital, with the city home to 7 of top 10 most livable suburbs in Australia. Demographer Mark McCrindle argues Melbourne was starting to lose its livability due to population growth & infrastructure bottlenecks. Meanwhile, Brisbane is half the population size of Melbourne, it is more sustainable and wages are similar, but house prices in Brisbane are far cheaper. This city is a livable city with great weather, vibrant green spaces, lively bars & restaurants, world class art galleries, etc. Brisbane's government continues to enhance the lifestyle of the city with more leisure options, world-class venues & Australia's most modern public transport.
