🦈❄️ Our Little Explorers had a fin-tastic time discovering our homemade frozen shark tank today!

Filled with sharks, whales and shells hidden inside the ice, the children eagerly explored, brushed, touched and investigated to uncover the sea creatures beneath.

As warm water was poured over the ice, they watched with excitement as it cracked and melted, discovering cause and effect through hands-on play.

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, teamwork and persistence as they explored, experimented and learned together. What a fun and engaging sensory experience! 💙🐋🦈❄️

What do children really need to flourish?

As parents, we hear all the time that the early years matter. But when you’re choosing an early learning centre, what should you actually be looking for? What does high-quality early learning really look and feel like?

We asked Goodstart Chief Children’s Officer and early learning expert Professor Cathrine Neilsen-Hewett to break down what the evidence tells us makes the biggest difference for children.
And it’s not about having the newest equipment, the fanciest toys or the most picture-perfect rooms.

It’s about the things happening within those spaces every day: skilled educators, strong and secure relationships, rich interactions with other children, intentional play-based learning, and strong leadership and supportive team culture.

In honour of Loud Shirt Day, our little learners explored Auslan through visual flashcards, using their hands, facial expressions and actions to practice different signs.

They showed curiosity and excitement as they copied the signs and discovered new ways to communicate.

Through our Auslan experience, we are learning about inclusion, celebrating our differences and discovering that everyone communicates in different ways.

We are learning that every voice matters and everyone deserves to feel included, valued and heard.

We set a challenge, our kindergarten children explored creativity using pairs of eyes as the starting point for our drawings.

The children shared their ideas and used their imaginations to transform the eyes into amazing creations!

From all kinds of animals and people to aliens, monsters, and other imaginative characters, the children came up with so many unique and creative ideas. 👀

This experience encouraged creative thinking, imagination, communication, and self-expression while giving the children the freedom to bring their ideas to life.

We loved seeing their confidence grow as they proudly shared their masterpieces with their friends and educators! 💛✨

Mud kitchen magic! 🌸

Our children have been busy creating, mixing and cooking up a storm with water, bark, petals and plenty of imagination!

The mud pit and kitchen area have become a wonderful space for pretend play, creativity, sensory exploration and, of course, cooking up delicious creations with friends. 💛

So much learning happens when children are given the freedom to explore, get messy and let their imaginations lead the way!

Our playground has had an exciting new addition... TYRES!

The children have been having so much fun exploring all the different ways they can use them.

From climbing and balancing to rolling and creating obstacle courses, the tyres have inspired endless imagination and active play!

These open-ended resources encourage children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, problem-solving abilities and teamwork while having lots of fun outdoors. 😊

We love watching the children challenge themselves, build confidence and create their own adventures with our new playground tyres!

Float or Sink? 💧

The children became little scientists as they explored the exciting question: Will it float or will it sink?

Before beginning, they made predictions about different objects, sharing their ideas and reasoning with their friends. We then put these predictions to the test through a hands-on water investigation, observing which items floated and which sank.

Following our exploration, Miss Manpreet showed the children how to create their own boats using paddle pop sticks.

The children eagerly worked together, carefully gluing the sticks to build their boats before decorating them with their own unique designs.

It was a fun and engaging experience that encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and early scientific thinking while providing plenty of opportunities for imaginative play. 🚩⛵✨

We also work closely with families to understand each child's individual sleep routine, because feeling safe, settled and well-rested helps children learn, grow and thrive.
