Harmony Amidst Destruction

BEMAC is proud to present Harmony Amidst Destruction, an evocative fusion of movement and music that brings a remarkable true story to the stage.

A powerful dance-theatre performance born from the ashes of the Beirut Port explosion, Harmony Amidst Destruction fuses breaking, live music, and raw emotion to explore resilience, loss, and rebirth.

Performed by Middle Eastern artists Roj and Ralph Kabalan with musician Greta Kelly, the work transforms pain into beauty. Revealing how art becomes a lifeline amid chaos.

Through explosive movement and haunting soundscapes, the piece invites audiences on a deeply human journey of destruction and hope.

Harmony Amidst Destruction will open with a special performance by Say True God?

BEMAC is thankful to have received Organisational Funding.

As Queensland’s most dynamic producer of multicultural arts, BEMAC has been successfully staging ground-breaking productions that fuel the diverse practice of artists from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

For 38 years we continue to advocate and showcase the innovative work of artists whose distinctive and distinguished creative practices ensure their stories are not missed by institutional radars.

Our 2025 artistic program ‘A Stage Called Home’ was named to reflect our ambition to be the safest creative haven we can forge.

The artists we are working with use their voices to speak to the Australian experience in all its complexity. This is the power of authentic artistic expression: it doesn’t just represent home—it creates it, moment by moment, story by story.

Through performance—music, dance, discussion, theatre, and spoken word— our program challenges us to expand our understanding of belonging beyond borders, beyond categories, beyond the limitations of any singular identity.

Such a pleasure rehearsing with our guest artists today.

Fusion's Navegaçaõ program on Friday August 8th gathers musicians who hail from diverse cultures far from Australia. Gathering these musicians allows us to share genuine understandings of music of their lands. Sergio Amaro and Karen Arango bring Colombia's poignant songs, while the Mendoza Tango Quartet bring the gusty poetics of tango.
