Be heard. Be recognised.💬🗣️
Queensland unpaid carers deserve to be heard.
The Queensland Government is reviewing the Carers (Recognition) Act 2008 — and now is the time for carers to help shape how carers are recognised in the future.
To support the government’s consultation process, we’re inviting unpaid carers across Queensland to share their experiences, ideas and priorities to help strengthen carer recognition and support into the future.
Your voice can help influence positive change for carers across our state.

Caregiving at work is not one size fits all.
There are three main situations that happen to employees: those who tell their employer and it goes poorly, those who tell them and it goes well, and those who don’t tell anyone at all.
Working and Caregiving: Should You Tell Your Boss?
Understanding how and when to talk to your manager can help working caregivers access available benefits and support

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week (27 May- 3 June).
This year’s theme is All In, which makes it clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It takes all of us, every single day.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey and isn’t the responsibility of First Nations people alone.
At Carers Queensland, our journey is guided by our First Nations Strategy 2025-2027, which shapes how we walk alongside First Nations peoples.
Our First Nations Strategy sets a clear and accountable path to strengthen our organisation’s cultural capability and reflects our commitment to reconciliation, equity and cultural safety.
This week and every week, we’re All In for reconciliation.
There are many ways that you can be part of this journey. Are you all in?

Caring for someone can often mean putting your own needs aside. Living Well Sessions have been created to give carers supporting someone experiencing mental health challenges a chance to step away from daily pressures and reconnect with themselves, others, and the surrounding community.
Across June, we’ll be offering a range of relaxed, small-group wellbeing days designed to help carers slow down, breathe, feel supported, and connect with others who understand the caring role.
Activities (at no cost to carers) include:
đź’š Walk & talk mornings by the water
đź’š Creative calm sessions
đź’š Nature walks and gentle journalling
đź’š Quiet social connection over a warm drink
đź’š Grounding and wellbeing activities
The first session next week is EXHALE – Coastal Reset & Nervous System Recovery Day. Spots limited - Register your expression of interest for the days that would appeal to you: https://buff.ly/EQ5UbDp

Today we pause and we reflect.
On National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the pain endured by First Nations people, particularly the Stolen Generations- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children forcibly removed from their families and communities.
Sorry without action is not enough. This year’s national theme, From Sorry to Action, reflects expectations that governments take urgent steps to create tangible and measurable change within survivors’ lifetimes.
This day matters. We honour its significance and we highlight the importance of understanding that the path to healing and reconciliation asks something of all of us: to listen, to learn and to and to never forget.
We stand with First Nations peoples today and every day. 🧡💚💜

Do you care for a friend, relative, neighbour, or partner?
You might be an unpaid carer.
Carers provide care in many different ways. A carer might look after someone 24 hours a day and help with daily activities, or they might look after someone who only needs help some of the time.
Carer Gateway can help carers get the support that is right for them.
For more information call Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737 between 8am and 5pm Monday – Friday or visit➡️ https://www.carergateway.gov.au/
