The work of stopping Adani and calling out its contractors goes on, as at Mackellar’s head office in Nambour yesterday 🚀✊🏼😎 💯

Here's an invitation from Australian Youth Climate Coalition to join young people who will be most impacted by the Albanese Labor Government's weak, inadequate new emissions target for 2035. Our Govt is Sleeping on Climate!
Today the government just announced its 2035 emission reduction target of 62-70% - a weak target that is too little, too late.
Young people, First Nations people, Pacific Islanders and those on the frontlines of the climate crisis cannot afford Labor’s continued inaction and support for the fossil fuel industry. See you there! (this is an all ages event too😁)

MEDIA STATEMENT: Response to False Allegations Regarding Constituent Visit to the electorate office of the Hon. Renee Coffey, Member for Griffith

We categorically reject the false and defamatory claims made by Renee Coffey claiming that we harassed here staff during our visit yesterday.

THE FACTS
- Constituents have been respectfully requesting a meeting with Ms Coffey since her election regarding Woodside’s North West Shelf extension which is now approved
- Despite repeated attempts through the normal and proper channels, Ms Coffey has consistently avoided scheduling this important meeting
- Yesterday's visit was a peaceful and lawful attempt by concerned citizens to request face-to-face dialogue on the critical issue of Australia’s contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions as the world’s third largest exporter of fossil fuels
- At no time were any members of the group aggressive or threatening in either words or actions
- At no time did any constituent or supporter engage in the behaviour Ms Coffey claims to have witnessed and to the best of our knowledge, if Ms Coffey is referring to our visit, we were advised she was not present.

OUR POSITION:
The right of constituents to meet with their elected representatives is fundamental to our democratic process. Ms Coffey’s refusal to engage with her constituents on this matter of national importance is disappointing, but her decision to now falsely characterise peaceful democratic participation as "harassment" is both misleading and concerning.

WE CALL ON MS COFFEY TO:
- Retract these false allegations immediately
- Schedule the requested meeting to discuss how she as a leader in the Labor Environment Action Network can amplify the voices of her constituents in federal parliament and in the improvement of Labor’s environment policy platform
- Engage constructively with constituents rather than avoiding legitimate democratic discourse.

💥 Snap action! 💥 Community members in Brisbane/Magandjin have rallied outside Renee Coffey - Labor Member for Griffith's offfice in response to Friday’s approval of Woodside’s massive north west shelf gas project in WA.

Instead of standing with Murujuga Traditional Owners and the community demanding climate action, the Australian Labor Party have betrayed us and given the green light to the largest fossil fuel project in the southern hemisphere. Shame Labor Shame!

Nuclear is an expensive, risky, thirsty distraction from real climate action. We can’t afford to wait decades to bring down emissions, and we don’t have enough water to power nuclear stations.

And there’s a huge elephant in the room - where’s the nuclear waste going to go? We’re supersizing the issue in Brisbane City to make sure the risks of nuclear to the climate and our country are front of mind.

Join the nuclear drums this Saturday 10am at Queens Gardens!

Wealthy coal and gas companies are making huge profits while Queenslanders are cleaning up after another climate-fuelled unnatural disaster.

Join us next Thursday for a snap action to hear from cyclone survivors as they share their stories and demand our governments protect our communities, not profits for wealthy multinational coal and gas corporations.

BREAKING: Yesterday, Environment Minister Plibersek approved three thermal coal mine expansions that will turbocharge the climate crisis by locking in 1.5 billion tonnes of carbon pollution - this is more than three times Australia’s total annual emissions.

It’s outrageous. Our movement is turning out in force today to expose Labor's support for coal and show them the community will hold them to account. 💪💪

JOIN A SNAP ACTION at Graham Perrett's office in Sunnybank at 12pm today! 💥💥💥 RSVP link in comments.

For almost three years, Wangan and Jagalingou Cultural Custodians have held their ground on the northern half of Adani’s mining lease with ‘Waddananggu’ - an ongoing cultural ceremony - that is creating a place for their culture to survive and thrive.

You are invited to join them on Sunday September 1st in Magandjin for Yidaki - Magarran - Original vibrations’ to celebrate the three-year anniversary of Waddananggu. ‘Magarran’ represents the three stars in Orion’s belt and Yidaki is the Didgeridoo!

We’ll be aiming to set the record for the most Yidakis and clapsticks playing simultaneously to sing out to Country and let it know we’re here to protect the water.

This ceremony is open to anyone who wants to participate!

Afterwards we’ll walk together from King George Square to Musgrave Park for the Rap Up: music and yarns to heal Country from 3pm.
