A youth foyer is proposed for Rockhampton, with 40 self-contained units for young people aged 16-25 facing housing insecurity who are committed to engaging in education, training or employment!
Following our successful youth foyers in Logan, the Gold Coast and Townsville, we’re delivering eight more youth foyers across the state. We recently announced youth foyers for Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. The construction of a new youth foyer is already underway in Cairns, and designs are being developed for Moreton Bay and Hervey Bay.
Youth foyers help young people develop the skills they need to lead independent and productive lives. With 24/7 onsite support, they learn how to manage a rental property while working or studying. This helps young tenants transition into mainstream accommodation so they can get a great start for their future.

Some tenants have extra bedrooms in their homes that they don’t need later in life. When a tenant wants to downsize, we’re ready to help them find a home that suits their needs now.
We want to free up larger homes for larger families, but finding someone a new home (even if it’s smaller) can take time.
We’re building more 1- and 2-bedroom homes for older Queenslanders, and if you’re on the housing register, your Housing team will let you know when a place becomes available.

Even if you’re on Queensland's housing register, it can take time for a home to become available. We can still find housing help that’s right for you.
Our Housing teams can help you:
- Find, get and keep a rental home
- Access emergency housing
- Find local services like domestic violence support, financial help, or health services.
Talk to the team at your local Housing Service Centre about what you need.

We’re making it easier for vulnerable young parents living in social housing to get help in Townsville, Logan, and Moreton Bay.
The Supported Tenancies for Young Parents (STYP) program provides support to eligible young parents and young pregnant women who are living in social housing and need help to stay in their home.
The program helps young families maintain their housing, strengthen their parenting and life skills, and build towards long-term independence.
Programs like STYP help prevent tenancy breakdowns and reduce the risk of homelessness.
In Townsville, the program will be delivered by the TAIHS.
In Moreton Bay, the program will be delivered by Micah Projects with support for Maroochydore.
In Logan, the program will be delivered by YFS with support for Inala.
