It's National Children's Week! 🎉From 24 October to 1 November, we're celebrating the little people in our lives and recognising their rights, achievements and contributions to our community.

Children's Week is also a chance to celebrate the many cultures and traditions that make Australia unique. Share a family story, explore different cultures through art, music and food, or invite the kids in your life to show what makes their family special.

Our community women’s group, EmpowerHer, recently came together for a hands-on sushi making class, learning a new skill, sharing plenty of laughs, and building their connections and support for one another. 🍣💜

EmpowerHER is one of our Community Healing and Accountability (CHAA) Groups, bringing women together every couple of weeks to connect, support one another, build confidence and enjoy fun and creative activities in a welcoming space. It’s all about creating opportunities for connection and to strengthen our communities capacity to become natural helpers for one another. Thank you to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust for helping to make this activity possible.

Meet Dot and Helen, two familiar faces who have been part of our community for around 15 years! 💜

Week after week, you’ll find them at the craft group, knitting and catching up with the other ladies. Over the years, the group has become much more than a place to enjoy a favourite hobby. It’s where friendships have formed, familiar faces come together and there’s always something to look forward to each week. 🧶☕

We’re so lucky to have Dot and Helen as part of our community, and to have shared so many Tuesdays with them!

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change”, is a reminder of how important it is to listen to and learn from the people at the heart of our communities.

At Inala Community House, we see every day the difference that connection, understanding and having a safe space to be heard can make.

Today, we encourage everyone to make time for the conversations that matter, check in with those around you and continue creating communities where people feel supported, valued and heard.

Meet Lynn, our next familiar face for Queensland Seniors Month! 💜

For the past two years, Lynn has been making the trip to Acacia Ridge Community Centre for our weekly craft group, where the friendly faces and welcoming atmosphere make it well worth the journey.

She loves knitting trauma teddies, beanies and scarves, although sometimes there’s a little more chatting than knitting! 🧶☕

Our craft group is open to everyone and meets every Tuesday. If good company, a cuppa and a little creativity sound like your kind of morning, we’d love to welcome you along.

October is Queensland Seniors Month! 💜 We’re celebrating some of the wonderful people who make our community what it is by introducing you to a few familiar faces from our Healthy Ageing programs.

First up, meet Betty! 👋

At 89 years young, Betty has been part of the Inala Community House community for many years and is a much-loved regular at our weekly knitting group. For Betty, it’s about much more than knitting. It’s a reason to get together, enjoy a cuppa and some afternoon tea, and spend time in good company each week.🧶☕

We’re so lucky to have people like Betty bringing warmth, friendship and plenty of personality to our community. Stay tuned as we introduce you to more of our wonderful seniors throughout October!

Community support plays such an important part in bringing the Inala Multicultural Festival to life. We’d like to once again recognise Concrete Concepts & Constructions, one of our valued Silver Sponsors, for getting behind this year’s celebration. 💛

Their support helped us create a day where our community could come together to connect, celebrate and share the many cultures that make Inala such a special place.

Thank you, Concrete Concepts Group, for supporting our community and helping make this year’s festival one to remember! 🌏🙌
