The Greens NSW have two senators in federal parliament - Dr Mehreen Faruqi, who is the Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens, and David Shoebridge. We have 7 state MPs in NSW parliament; 4 in the Legislative Council - Cate Faehrmann, Abigail Boyd, Sue Higginson and Dr Amanda Cohn, and 3 in the Legislative Assembly - Kobi Shetty (Balmain), Jenny Leong (Newtown) and Tamara Smith (Ballina). The Greens NSW have 63 local councillors throughout NSW on 39 councils. The Greens NSW is a member body of The Australian Greens. The Australian Greens is a confederation of state and territory-based Greens parties. Each state Greens party is free to organise its activities as it sees fit, following the Greens principle of decentralised decision-making.

Wherever we live, whatever we earn and whatever stage of life we are in, all of us should be able to get the healthcare we need, when we need it. Our healthcare system should give health workers the time and support to care for us properly and use public money to keep people well, not generate profits for corporations.

With your support, The Greens will create public Community Healthcare Centres across NSW. These centres will bring GPs, nurses, mental healthcare, dental care, allied health, testing and relevant specialists together in one place. One team will coordinate each person’s care through one plan, without gap fees.

The Greens Pay public clinic healthcare staff a salary instead of paying them for every appointment, so they can give each patient the time and attention they need.

Nearly half of Australians experience mental illness during their lifetime.

Among young people, the problem is especially urgent: almost two in five people aged 16–24 experience a period of poor mental health in a single year. Yet cost prevents one in three people who need to see a psychologist or psychiatrist from getting care*.

The Greens will provide free mental health support through public Community Healthcare Centres, so people can get the right level of care, whenever they need it.

NSW residents are waiting too long for the healthcare they need. For dental, mental health and allied healthcare, long public waitlists means people are delaying care or going without altogether.

The Greens will slash the time it takes to access free public dental, mental and allied healthcare by establishing Community Healthcare Centres across NSW.

The objective is clear. Get people the care they need sooner, close to home, before their issues become urgent.
