Prepare Now for Fire Season

As we head into fire season, now is the time to prepare your property and help reduce the risk of fire.

Clear excess vegetation, maintain firebreaks, and tidy up around your home and outbuildings. Taking these steps early can help protect your property and make a difference when fire threatens.

If you are planning a burn-off, please remember to register it with DFES by calling 08 9395 9209, available 24 hours a day. Registering your burn-off helps prevent unnecessary brigade call-outs and ensures emergency services are aware of your activities.

Property owners also have a responsibility to maintain their properties and, where it is safe to do so, assist with managing a fire should one start.

Being prepared before an emergency happens can make a significant difference. Stay informed, prepare early, and do your part to help keep our community safe this fire season.

Stay safe and get ready now.

πŸ”₯ RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD

A reminder to everyone that the Restricted Burning Period commences on 2 November.

Until then, you can register your burns with DFES by calling 9395 9209.

Please remember to burn safely and responsibly and check the current conditions before lighting up.

And remember, the Brunswick Junction Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service love a good bonfire too! πŸ”₯πŸš’ β€” just make sure yours doesn’t become a job for us! πŸ˜‰

Stay safe and burn responsibly

This is one sound you definitely can't ignore! πŸ˜²πŸ“±

Your phone will vibrate, play a loud siren-like sound and light up with the alert.

Goomalling will be the first location in WA to test AusAlert on 19 June at 12pm, followed by a National Test across Australia on 27 July.

So there's no confusion, this alert is not sent through the Emergency WA app or any other emergency app. AusAlert is a new federal government initiative that forms part of Australia's nationally operated emergency alert system, designed to deliver warnings during serious emergencies.

If the trials are successful, states and territories can opt in to using AusAlert from October, depending on local requirements.

We can't thank all of our first responders enough πŸ™ŒπŸ’™

Behind every uniform is a person, a family member, a friend, a neighbour who puts their life on the line to keep us safe – today and every day.

These incredible people face the toughest of situations from fires to floods, life-threatening incidents and natural disasters. Our emergency services personnel always have our back.

From all of our services, to our friends at Western Australia Police Force, St John WA, Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia and other first responders across the state, thank you πŸ’™
