The speakers platform was powerful at the Palestine rally in Naarm/Melbourne today where we marked the anniversary of the Naksa (setback). The Naksa was the displacement of around 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 59 years ago. While the atrocities continue today, so does the resistance around the globe.

There was a high level of interest in the feature article about New Zealand/Aotearoa in the new issue of the Freedom Socialist Organiser. Titled: Build the BDS Movement: Resistance grows as Kiwis expose ties to Israel, the piece exposes the complex web of trade and financial quid pro quo that connects the Israeli state to New Zealand as well as the rest of the world.

Speakers today were the legendary Aboriginal activist, Robbie Thorpe, Adnan Mansour from Free Palestine Melbourne, British actor Khalid Abdalla; Samoan woman and Greens MLC, Anasina Gray-Barberio and Neve O’Connor just returned from the Global Sumud Flotilla. Egyptian activist Hadeer was the rally MC.
