Today the Freedom Socialist Party teamed up with Radical Women to participate in the Hands Off Public Housing rally where we demand that the Allan Labor government halt its obscene plan to tear down 44 public housing high rise towers. We demanded that these towers instead be renovated and that more public housing be built. It was great to be out on the streets with fellow public housing advocates for this rousing day of action. There were inspirational speeches by well-organised tenants, housing workers and other campaigners, combined with strong working class solidarity. We marched from the State Library to the Atherton Gardens in Fitzroy. The message was loud and clear that Allan and her developer and investor buddies have a fight on their hands.

This Rally to Remember, organised by Trans Feminists Unite! on 24 May in Melbourne, was a powerful vigil for those lost to trans community, particularly to trans-misogyny.
Eulogies were mixed with fiery speeches that nailed capitalism as the cause of the femicide. The Freedom Socialist Party, which attended with Radical Women, supported this action. Radical Women was amongst speakers from Iran, Ecuador and Australia, who connected the femicide of women, indigenous, trans and q***r peoples.
Speaking for Radical Women, Debbie Brennan spoke of the legacy of resistance, with trans women of colour at the forefront, which continues to now. RW highlighted the power that a feminist united front could have in building a force capable of beating down the growing far-right reaction — and its revolutionary nature.
We marched from the State Library to the 8 hour monument.
