Recent thefts in water and gas meters are being reported to police. This coincides with the ongoing issue of copper theft.
Copper theft is a public safety concern that can disrupt the flow of electricity which powers everyday amenities, like traffic lights.
That’s why it’s important you report any suspicious activity or previous copper thefts to police to investigate.
Suspicious activities to look out for include:
🔌 exposed wires or even a pit lid that seems to have been moved and not replaced
🔌 pits being accessed at night without the area being fully lit
🔌 people wearing hi-vis clothing and removing pit lids without proper equipment.

Wanted on Warrants
Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Damien BALLANTINE, who is wanted by police on three warrants.
BALLANTINE is known to frequent the Moonee Valley, Merri-Bek, Hume and Keilor downs areas.

Hume Crime Investigation Unit are currently investigating the circumstances of a robbery that occurred on the 18th of March 2026 at a shopping complex in Craigieburn.
At approximately 4.55 pm, the victim was approached by a group of males and females when two unknown males assaulted him. During the assault, one of the males stole the victim's chain/necklace.

MAN CHARGED FOLLOWING ASSAULT AT MEADOW HEIGHTS
Police have charged a man following an assault in a carpark in Meadow Heights on 20 April.
It’s alleged two vehicles were involved in a minor collision in the car park of Meadow Heights Shopping Centre.
A witness to the collision intervened after observing a male and female arguing with the driver of the other vehicle.
During the incident, the male offender assaulted the witness, causing him to sustain significant facial injuries.
Police executed warrants at addresses in Glenroy and Strathmore recently where a 43-year-old man was arrested.
He has been charged with multiple offences including recklessly cause injury, common law assault and drug possession.
He has been bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 8 September.

Fawkner Highway Patrol detected a vehicle doing 125km/hr in 70km/hr zone on Sydney Road, Campbellfield.
The reason? Wanting to see my girlfriend at GYG!
Impounded for 30 days despite pleading multiple times not to. This chap will be given an invitation to have a discussion with a magistrate in the near future.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a credit card being used fraudulently in Box Hill, Doncaster, Camberwell, Glen Waverly and Fawkner between 16th and 17th January 2026.
A total of $10,719,40 was spent during this time.
Investigators have released an image of a man and their car who may be able to assist with enquiries.

🔨👷♂️ Moonee Ponds Police Station Reception Temporarily Closed During The Day 25/5/26 to 27/5/26 👷♂️🔨
Moonee Ponds Police Station is undergoing building renovations.
The station will be closed during the day from 6.30am to 3:30pm Monday 25-May to Wednesday 27-May. During this time the Flemington Police Station will be open and can be contacted on 📞 9371 6100.
Moonee Ponds Police Station will re-open from 3:30pm and remain open throughout the night until approximately 6.30am each day.
