Bundaberg State High School Welcome to the official Bundaberg State High School page. They also provide a framework for the students as they move into the world beyond the school.

On this site you will be kept up to date with what is happening around our school as well as receiving updates and reminders. Bundaberg State High School is one of the oldest state high schools in Queensland, having opened its doors in 1912 on the banks of the Burnett River. The school’s motto is 'per ardua ad astra', which loosely translates as 'through hard work, the stars', and this set of values informs the expectations of all who work and study here.

SRC Farewell to our Year 12’s

Thursday’s SRC meeting was a special occasion as we celebrated and farewelled our wonderful Year 12 leaders. Seth, Swarith, Jarvis, Lachlan and Azri have been outstanding ambassadors for Bundaberg State High School, not only this year as our School Captains, but throughout their many years of dedicated service on the Student Representative Council.

They have all made a lasting impact on our school community, inspiring both their peers and their teachers through their leadership, commitment and passion for student voice. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and the positive legacy they leave behind. As they head into their final exams and prepare for so many exciting opportunities ahead, we wish them all the very best. We can’t wait to see where life takes you next!

EmPower Breakfast

On Thursday morning, our student leaders attended the annual emPOWER Breakfast, organised by Bundaberg Central Rotary in support of Edon Place.

Over breakfast, our students engaged in thoughtful and meaningful conversations around this year’s topic: “What role does AI play in a healthy relationship?” It was a fantastic opportunity to explore how technology is shaping relationships and to hear different perspectives from across the generations.

A huge thank you to the community groups and leaders who generously sponsored our students’ attendance and helped make this valuable experience possible. We are proud to see our student leaders engaging in these important conversations.

Over the September school holidays, Lachlan had the incredible opportunity to take part in Earthwatch Australia’s Student Challenge program!

As part of the program, Lachlan travelled to Cairns and spent a week in the Daintree Rainforest, gaining hands-on experience learning about the importance of mangrove ecosystems and investigating the impacts of Cyclone Jasper on mangrove health along the Daintree River.

A huge thank you to Earthwatch Australia for providing students with such valuable opportunities to engage in real-world environmental research, develop their knowledge and make a positive difference to our natural environment. Earthwatch

Year 10 students participated in mock interviews today. They were required to choose a job advertisement and prepare a cover letter and resume. They were then interviewed by local business owners and employment agencies. This was a valuable opportunity for these students to gain experience and practice their communication skills in a face-to-face interview format.

For some students, this has resulted in actual potential job offers! We would like to express our appreciation for the many community volunteers who gave up their time to help our students with this event.

Our school community is incredibly proud to celebrate the phenomenal achievements of two of our very own Bundaberg State High School teachers, Mr and Mrs Wallace, who on the weekend both completed a full IRONMAN at Port Macquarie. Their results were extraordinary, placing 1st and 2nd in their age groups and qualifying for the 2027 IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii!

For those unfamiliar with an IRONMAN, this involves a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a full 42.2km marathon (run). All in one day!

Even more remarkable is everything that happens behind the scenes. The early mornings, countless hours of training, sacrifices, discipline and sheer determination to prepare for an event of this magnitude is extraordinary.

A huge congratulations to you both! We cannot wait to cheer you on as you take on the world's best in Kona in 2027. What incredible role models for our students and our entire school community.

Year 10 Food Studies students toured Brothers Sports Club to learn about the various aspects of Hospitality and feasted on an amazing Asian banquet prepared by Chef Henry. They learnt how to fold dumplings and various aspects of Asian Cuisine to assist them with hosting their upcoming Asian themed restaurants.

Thank you, Brothers Sports Club for hosting our 70 year 10 students for lunch! Brothers Sports Club Bundaberg

2027 - Volleyball Program Sponsorship Opportunity

Are you a former Bundy High Volleyballer?
Do you own a local business?
Are you willing to sponsor our 2027 volleyball program?

Bundy High has a proud history of volleyball success, including a number of former Australian representatives. Our school regularly competes at the Qld Schools Cup along with our Wide Bay and Interschool competitions. These events involve transport, accommodation and nomination fees, so we are seeking support from local businesses to enable our teams to attend these events at reduced costs to the students.
