Great to see the progress on this and the wombat crossing on Majara Street. Improving safety for Bungendore’s students can’t come quick enough.
Contractors will be upgrading the refuge island crossing to a children's crossing on Kings Highway in Bungendore between Monday 12 October and Friday 16 October 2026.
We had a delay receiving the Road Occupancy Licence for the Kings Highway works which is why the works were not completed during the school holidays.
Works at times will require a lane closure, and depending on traffic volumes both lanes will be opened back up to traffic. Works requiring lane closures will be conducted outside of school peak hours for drop-off and pick-up.
We thank you for your patience as we complete these works; these crossings have high levels of pedestrian activity, particularly during school arrival and departure. The upgrades will improve safety for students, families and other pedestrians.
The raised 'wombat' pedestrian crossing on Majara Street is expected to be complete this weekend (by Sunday 11 October), and ready for traffic before school returns.
