FIREFIGHTER REMBERANCE DAY

Today we honour the firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving Queensland communities.
At 10am on the 10th day of the 10th month, we pay our respects to the 60 firefighters who have lost their lives while protecting Queensland communities since 1877.

Firefighters face challenges every day in response to emergencies ranging from structure fires, to bushfires, chemical spills, road crashes and swiftwater rescues. Every time they respond, firefighters face hazardous situations that demand the utmost courage and empathy, and our profession is defined by bravery and sacrifice.

In the face of these inherent risks our firefighters respond selflessly and without hesitation.
We also pay our respects to the families of the fallen, this occasion provides an important opportunity to connect and re-affirm that they are and will always remain part of our firefighting community as we remember their loved ones.
