Today we had some very important conversations with Buxton residents on understanding their risk associated with bushfire and how to prepare a bushfire plan. Despite the damp and cool day Get Ready Day at Telopea Park Buxton gave our community the chance to ask questions on preparedness and discuss their plan for the Bushfire Danger Period.

Today was just perfect for a visit from our littlest community members Little Possums Early Learning Centre. These beautiful little people walked with their teachers and supervising big people all the way from their learning centre to Buxton fire Station! After some fun, a story and a bit of silly stuff they walked all the way back for a rest. Thanks Nathan for showing our visitors how to ‘Get Down Low and Go Go Go!’ More of this fun filled adventure soon ….

VALE - NORM MCGHIE
The members of Buxton RFB send their sincere condolences to the family of Norm following his passing this week at 101.
Norm joined the brigade on 9th December 2006 at the age of 81 completing his Bush Firefighter qualification shortly after. Norm will be remembered as our very own Santa bringing Christmas joy to the children and families of Buxton for many years. Norm held positions on the executive committee where he kept a very precise tally of supplies following barbecues and fundraising activities! Norm was awarded the NSWRFS 10 year Long Service Medal in 2018. Thank you for your service Norm and to your family for sharing you with us.
