Inspiring the ACT

ACT National Science Week 2026 is coming to a shopping centre near you!
This is your chance to engage with the community, share your expertise, and inspire future scientists with hands-on activities.
We are looking for people to run engaging, hands-on activities within each centre on the weekends during National Science Week (15-23 August). This could be STEM workshops, interactive demonstrations and shows, or hands-on displays, activities and experiments. We are looking for something to entice and excite visitors to the shopping centre, especially targeting families.

Event Details:
📅 Dates: 15-16 and 22-23 August
📍 Locations: Major shopping centres across Canberra
🕙 Times: 10 AM – 4 PM
💰 Cost: FREE participation with basic furniture provided (tables & chairs).

Let's get Physical with Physics in the Pub coming in July to Canberra.
And the call for presenters is going out!

At Smith's Alternative, they'll be bringing together local researchers to tell you about all the latest goings-on in physics.

It'll be a night of fun facts, petty squabbles, cosmic mysteries and some science songs, so register now, turn up early to get a good seat, and settle in for a thought provoking evening with Canberra's greatest minds.

National Science Week committees are assembling like a slightly disorganised Avengers, and we are looking for VOLUNTEERS who are:
🧠 mildly to extremely obsessed with science
📋 capable of attending meetings (or at least opening the calendar invite)
🔥 ready to turn “this could be cool” into “why is this actually happening”
🤝 keen to meet other brilliant nerds and/or chaos agents

NO LAB COAT REQUIRED.

YES, YOU CAN BRING YOUR WHOLE PERSONALITY.

You’ll help shape events, award grants, hype up science, and maybe accidentally become “the person who knows how to organise things” (dangerous, we know).

✨ making science accessible, inclusive, and actually fun
