We know that most Australians support organ and tissue donation, but only one-third have registered.
That’s around 13 million Australians who support donation, but haven’t taken the time to register.
There are around 2,000 people on the waitlist for a life-saving transplant who need Australia’s help. The easiest way you can help save lives is by registering as a donor at donatelife.gov.au and telling your family. They’re much more likely to agree to donation if they know.

Our team in the NT haven’t let the wild wet season weather get in their way. They’ve been attending events all over the Darwin region to start conversations about organ and tissue donation, including:
💃 The Belyuen Groove Festival
🏃 Oz Day Fun Run
👨👩👧👦 The Defence Member and Family Support Darwin’s ‘Welcome to the Top End’ event
🏥 A World Kidney Day stall at Royal Darwin Hospital with the Top End Renal team
🥘 The International Food Festival at the Buddhist Temple in Darwin
And they’re only just getting started for the year!
Did you see them at any of these events?

Blood Bikes Australia recently stopped by the DonateLife Victoria office to be celebrated as part of National Volunteer Week! Blood Bikes Australia is a group of volunteer motorcyclists across Australia who help transport blood and medical supplies to and from where they are needed.
Since December, the Blood Bikes team in Victoria has supported DonateLife Victoria by transporting blood samples as part of the organ donation process.
They’ve developed a strong partnership with our clinical team and their efficient deliveries have made a significant impact. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and the support of all DonateLife volunteers around Australia 🫶

We’re celebrating National Blood Donor Week ❤️
Our friends over at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood and Aussie artist David Booth have created a limited-edition bandage based on drawings by real kids in hospital — a wonky frog, a dapper dog and a crocodile with a smile.
National Blood Donor Week celebrates the contributions of blood donors across Australia and raises awareness about the ongoing need for blood and plasma donations.
There’s never a better time to donate blood and if you do it before 19 July, you’ll receive a limited-edition bandage and help save lives.

We had a fantastic 3 days at the Brisbane Careers & Employment Expo, engaging with hundreds of students, educators and jobseekers.
From trivia spins to meaningful conversations, young people were eager to learn about organ and tissue donation and tackle hot topics like religion, health eligibility and family consent.
Our staff and volunteers also met donor families, recipients and those touched by donation. Raising awareness among young Australians matters and this careers expo was the perfect place to start these conversations.
