🚧 Upcoming nightworks and temporary road closures 🚧

We’ll be carrying out nightworks on sections of State Circle and Capital Circle over the coming months.

πŸ•— Work hours: 8 pm to 7 am, Sunday to Friday nights

What’s happening?
- Replacing sections of worn road pavement
- Installing new line marking
- Repairing affected areas

πŸ“ Stage 1: From Sunday 21 June 2026 (approx. 6 weeks, weather permitting)
πŸ“ Stage 2: From Sunday 9 August 2026 (approx. 6 weeks, weather permitting)

There will be roadside signage in place ahead of each closure to help you plan your trips. Please note closures will vary β€” not all sections will be closed at the same time.

Continuing to bring the Lindsay Pryor National Arboretum masterplan to life we have planted 322 new trees. You can see the patterns emerging as you enter the park.

While they don't look like much now - we are excited to see them grow and bloom over the next few years!

🚧 Big lift for the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge! πŸŒ‰

Recently our team completed the first pier lift - raising the bridge a very precise 8mm (yes, 'just' 8mm but when you're moving a national-icon-sized piece of infrastructure, it is a very big deal!).

Why are we lifting the bridge? Part of the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Renewal project includes replacement of the bridge bearings which sit between the bridge deck and the bridge piers. We need to lift the bridge off the piers to remove the existing bearings and get the new ones installed.

We'll next share footage of the bearing replacement process as we progress pier by pier to carefully renew this Canberra landmark and ensure it stays strong and safe for decades to come.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates as we continue lifting, shifting and revitalising one of the capital's most iconic bridges, 8mm at a time!
