Mary of Good Omen Goodeze is a finalist in Westfield Local Heroes (Belconnen)!
Mary is the founder and executive officer of Good Omen Goodeze (GOG), a charity focused on improving mental health and developing community connections through craft. GOG offers inclusive craft meetups for non-English speakers, seniors and people with disabilities who create comfort items which have been donated to over 16,000 hospital, ambulance and hospice patients.
If Mary is successful, the money will ensure the sustainability of Good Omen Goodezeβs operations and allow for the expansion of groups in the Belconnen area.

John Pratt of Parkinson's ACT is a finalist for Westfield Local Hero 2024!
John, an acclaimed artist and lead facilitator of the internationally recognised Tingey Painting with Parkinson's ACT Program, has dedicated nearly 30 years to supporting those with Parkinson's through art therapy. He leads skilled volunteers, organises exhibitions, and maintains art supplies. His efforts provide participants with social connection and improvements in emotional and physical wellbeing.
If John is successful, the funds will be used to expand the program across the region, covering set up costs, volunteer training, the printing of facilitator guides and admin expenses.

We are so proud of SHOUT's very own member, Catherine of Bosom Buddies, who is a Westfield Local Hero finalist! π
Bosom Buddies is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals diagnosed with breast cancer in the ACT and regional NSW. Despite being retired, Catherine works part-time to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone. Catherine and her volunteer team support over 1,000 people every year.
If Catherine is successful, the grant money will be used to expand the Bosom Buddies program, increasing peer support opportunities and increasing the organisationβs community footprint. Catherine also hopes to target a younger demographic and include a partner support network
