Getting our swimmers to float fully clothed gives them precious moments to rest, catch their breath and call our for help.
These are skills your kids need to survive in the water in an emergency - are they skills your kids have?
Swimmerz Academy
Our facility offers Learn to Swim, Private lessons, bubs+one, Squads, exercise classes & hydrotherapy
Around the 9-second mark, watch what happens when the board slips - because this is exactly what you want your kid to do in this moment.
This little one is one of our more nervous swimmers, but instead of panicking he held on, turned himself around, and with a little help from his instructor kicked all the way safely back to the wall.
This is exactly why we do these drills during Safety Week. They're not just swimming practice - they're life skills. The confidence and muscle memory built in moments like this could make all the difference if your child ever finds themselves in trouble in the water.
This is exactly how calm you want your child to be if they fall into the water.
Notice how Jackson isn't letting go of the float? This is EXACTLY what you need to encourage and remind your kids to do when talking about water safety with them. This is how they will survive.

Two very soggy, and happy boys finishing their Safety Week lesson yesterday afternoon 😍
Safety Week is in full swing and we are LOVING seeing all of our students in their pyjamas and learning about such an important topic!
Watch what happens when he falls backwards.
POV: Your toddler is learning water safety skills that could save their life, and they have no idea.
He stays calm. He holds his breath. He reaches for the wall. These aren’t advanced techniques – they’re survival instincts we’re building into every lesson, wrapped up in games like the dump truck.
If you found our page, this is what we do. We specialise in teaching kids to enjoy the water safely, from their very first lesson.

Picture this: It’s summer and you’re at a pool with your kids. Everyone is having fun swimming around, until one of your kids who swam a bit further away from you gets tired. Then they start to panic. They use up precious energy that they need to stay safe.
This is exactly why we have Safety Week. To practise the skills for moments like this.
Because a child who is calm in these moments is a safer one. And more likely to survive.

Get your pyjamas ready! It's Swimmerz Academy's Pyjama Themed Safety Week!
Pyjamas are our theme every June for a very good reason. In winter, we're all wearing longer, heavier clothing - and if you or your child ever fell into water unexpectedly, that's exactly what you'd be wearing. During Safety Week, students experience firsthand how much harder it is to move, float, and swim when clothes are weighing them down. They'll complete their safety activities first in their wet pyjamas, then again without them - so they can feel the real difference and understand why these skills matter so much outside of the pool environment.
So grab your PJ's to wear over your swimming costume and get ready for a week of fun!
See you poolside!

Fun fact: The United Kingdom doesn’t get a public holiday to celebrate the Kings Birthday. Lucky for us, we’re in Australia.
We’ll be closed Monday 8 June and will reopen Tuesday 9 June.
Happy Birthday King Charles 💙
HUZZAH!
Small moments are the ones that mean the most to your kids.
Being there, waving and cheering them on from the poolside is so much more important than any of us realise. It says “I see you! I’m watching you and I am so proud of you 😍”
