Carnarvon Snake Catcher & Relocation FREE service. Spread the word Carnarvon. We currently hold “All Category B Species” license by DBCA and ongoing participation with universities and DBCA studies.

We started this page for you to view the Rescue and Relocations of our Carnarvon & Gascoyne Snakes and other reptiles for educational purposes. We are all about the Protection & Conservation of these beautiful animals who are often looked upon very differently and they don't need to be! I started my journey into the world of reptiles back in 1993 as a volunteer keeper at the Currumbin wildlife sanctuary on the Gold Coast QLD. Soon after I started working with the reptiles. From Olive Python's used for shows to Venomous Mulga Snakes it was all a very steep and fun filled learning curve. My passion for the conservation of these reptiles has grown along with my knowledge but I am still learning more every day from others more proficient and educated on all of our Snakes. Some say even after 50 years they are still learning. Our Scientists and Herpetologists every day are finding new species and discovering better ways to help the future Conservation of our reptiles. This gives us Catchers up-to-date information about species. What habitats we can place them, how far we can translocate reptiles and also food sources that each species like to eat and so much more. The work they do is irreplaceable. Some have devoted their whole lives to our reptiles with many books and scientific papers written about many of our species. There is a world of information out there for us all to learn from. My hope is that we can all live with our reptiles in balance and acceptance. Changing the minds of people can be difficult as the Grandad that taught you to pick up the Shovel or Shoot any Snake still rings in your head. All these things that he told you about Snakes and probably still firmly believes because they don't know or care to educate about Snakes. I'm sorry to say this is not true. It is only a natural human instinct to fear something considered dangerous without education. This is why we started this page; education is the key to change! Snakes are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 2014. It is an offence to kill, injure or take snakes from the wild, there is a $10,000 fine, we cannot turn a blind eye to the killing of Snakes and they must be reported. Spread the word Carnarvon.

Hi Carnarvon,
With the Gascoyne River due to rise quickly over the coming days this likely means several areas of Carnarvon will be inundated with water.

This also means much of the wildlife including our Snakes and lizards that use these areas as habitat will be seeking refuge in the drier parts of our town.

Please stay out of flood waters and flooded areas and warn kids not to play in them.

Please also keep in mind with the many streets closed already and more than likely several more streets being closed due to flood waters it will make it seriously hard to get to you during this time.

Please call the shire rangers as they will be the only ones apart from emergency services if you are in an area that is closed, if not we should be able to get to you.

Thank you Carnarvon.

After 3 calls today and 2 Snakes caught, both Western Brown's it has been a busy day. 2 calls within a minute of each other.

1st Snake Morgan way. Western Brown.
2nd Snake Gooch st (pictured) Western Brown.
3rd Snake Tuckey crt also a Western Brown but had gone.

I can't stress enough the importance of keeping security doors closed as much as possible to keep our Snakes outside. Our last 6 calls this week have been Snakes inside homes.

Also keeping your yards clean with short grass and any wood piles, metal sheeting and also no outside water sources in your yards if you can help it, as this will provide shelter and much needed water our Snakes will stay around for.

The King Brown Snake or Mulga Snake. Dangerously Venomous and capable of a fatal bite if provoked or harassed.

I have often been asked can I explain their bite by many people and my answer is always the same. They bite and they hang on and don't let go and this is a prime example of this species.

With 1 caught and relocated tonight and 4 over the past 2 weeks relocated I think this video below best describes their tendency during the bite process.

Although ther Venom toxicity is weaker than a Western Brown who bites quicker, the bite of the Mulga Snake is what makes them just as Dangerous.

Remember, if bitten by any Snake follow Snake first aid procedures.
* Stay as still as possible and apply Snake first aid compression bandages to bite area, below and above bite area.
* Call emergency services immediately and stay still until they arrive.
* Once the ambulance arrives let them do their job.

Hi again Carnarvon,

Snake season is now getting a nightly occurrence for me.

This little Western Brown made its way inside a home tonight.

Please keep all doors and screen doors closed and fill any holes in walls or floors with some expanda foam. This will help keep them outside the home rather than inside.

The Western Brown is our most common venomous Snake and do grow up to 1.6 -1.8 metres long fully grown.

They will become very defensive if provoked or played with so please call a Snake Catcher to catch and relocate.

Have a great New Year all.
