Sparkways https://sparkways.org.au/ Since 1883, Sparkways has been supporting children, young people, and families all across Victoria.

We are a social enterprise working alongside our communities to ensure every child and young person is given every opportunity to reach their full potential. We’re here to be the spark of change. To help light the way for a lifelong journey of accomplishment and achievement. As a provider of youth mentoring, a registered training organisation and an Early Years learning provider, we partner with community organisations, schools and other early years stakeholders to lead the development and coordination of quality services that improve outcomes for children, young people, their families and communities.

Little engineers, big achievements!

There's been some wonderful building, problem-solving and teamwork happening at Sparkways Murnong Kindergarten!

Our young engineers have been busy designing and constructing their very own bridge, putting their creativity, curiosity and determination to work.
And what better way to celebrate their efforts than a special visit from , who joined us to recognise the children's achievements and present them with certificates! 🏅

A wonderful moment of pride for the children and educators, and a lovely example of the big learning that happens through everyday experiences.

💜 Thank you to Lauren for joining us and celebrating with our Murnong kindergarten community.

Little explorers. Big discoveries.
What's hiding beneath that leaf? What happens if we look a little closer?
Sometimes the smallest discoveries spark the biggest curiosity.
At Sparkways, we make space for children to explore, wonder and discover, every day.
💜 It's all part of the everyday joys of childhood.

Our new kindergarten is taking shape!

Exciting things are happening in Aintree North!

We recently visited the site of our upcoming Sparkways kindergarten, co-located with the newly named Barramayil Primary School, to see how construction is progressing.
With three kindergarten rooms planned, we're looking forward to creating a welcoming space where children can explore, play, build friendships and experience the everyday joys of childhood.

Planning for kindergarten in 2027?

Opening anticipated in Term 1 2027, subject to final site and opening confirmation.

Today, on Early Childhood Educators’ Day, we celebrate care, knowledge and commitment of our Sparkways educators.

Across Sparkways, our educators play an important role in the lives of children and families — creating welcoming places where children feel supported, encouraged and inspired to learn and grow.

This year, members of our Executive and Senior Leadership Teams have come together to share a special message of thanks and recognition for our educators.

To every early childhood educator, thank you for the care, commitment and difference you make every single day.

At Sparkways Early Learning Footscray, learning about and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives is part of our ongoing practice — not just something we recognise during NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC Week allowed our children, families and educators to come together, celebrate, reflect and deepen this learning through meaningful experiences and conversations.

While the week may have passed, the learning continues. We remain committed to creating opportunities for children to build understanding, connection and respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures as part of their everyday learning.

At Sparkways Early Learning Footscray, we have been exploring the works of Anna Bruder and her interactive art exhibition at the Museum of Modern art in New York, “The A line Florist. Children are invited to select a flower to paint and add it to our wall of paper vases. Interactive art teaches children through participation, movement, collaboration, and hands-on exploration. Unlike traditional art that is simply viewed, interactive art invites children to engage directly with materials, spaces, sounds, light and technology.

Connection. Reflection. Shared learning.

Our recent Sparkways Professional Development Days brought educators together from across our services to connect, reflect and grow together.

Across the sessions, teams explored the power of routines, rituals, relationships and intentional practice — and the important role educators play in shaping children’s everyday experiences of belonging, confidence and joy.

Thank you to Kelly Goodsir of KGlearning for guiding such meaningful conversations and shared reflection across the days. 💛

What does child safety look like in practice?

It’s in the everyday moments — relationships, connection, and environments where children feel safe, supported and able to be themselves.

When it comes to your child, nothing matters more than feeling safe.

At Sparkways, the safety and wellbeing of every child is at the centre of everything we do — in our environments, our relationships, and how we show up every day.

Because when children feel safe, supported and that they belong, they’re free to learn, explore and grow.

It was wonderful to join Mitchell Shire Council, community leaders and partners to celebrate the Greater Beveridge Community Centre expansion and the continued growth of early learning opportunities within the Beveridge community.

Sparkways has proudly operated the kindergarten service at Greater Beveridge since opening in 2019, growing from 50 enrolments across 2 rooms to more than 230 children across 5 rooms in 2026.

The expansion reflects a significant investment in the growing Beveridge community and will support:
• the activation of two additional kindergarten rooms
• the introduction of 20 hours of Pre-Prep for 4-year-olds
• expanded spaces that support children, families and community connection

As Beveridge continues to grow, so too does the importance of creating welcoming, high-quality early learning environments that support children and families to feel connected, confident and ready for the future.

Thank you to Mitchell Shire Council for the invitation and ongoing partnership in supporting children, families and the growing Beveridge community.
