We are very excited to have our brand new ‘Mini Rescue’ truck at Castlemaine Fire Brigade’s open day today - for its first day out!

Pop down, say hello and climb aboard!

The mini-rescue truck has been built to let kids (young and old!) climb aboard and learn about what the SES does - and how people can prepare for floods, storms and other emergencies.

FLOOD WATCH: MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM FRIDAY

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Flood Watch for our area.
Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is possible from Thursday. Because catchments are already moderately wet, they may respond quickly to rainfall, bringing the potential for minor to moderate flooding from Friday and into the weekend.

Now is the time to stay alert and prepare:
- Never drive, walk, swim, or play in floodwater. It is extremely dangerous and can hide deep hazards.
- Obey road closure signs and plan your travel routes ahead so you don’t encounter flooded roads.
- Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams, and waterways.
- Keep an eye on local media and the ABC for fast-changing updates.

For emergency assistance in floods and storms, call the SES on 132 500. In life-threatening emergencies, always call 000 (Triple Zero) immediately.

Looking forward to a great day with our CFA colleagues...!!

SES Castlemaine Unit will be joining us on 4 October.

We tend to talk a lot about fire as summer approaches, but being prepared for emergencies doesn’t stop there.

SES volunteers respond to floods and storms and are also part of Victoria’s road crash rescue network.

Come and meet some of the local SES crew, have a look at what they do and find out more about preparing for emergencies.

Four paws, big hearts, and incredible dedication. 🐾
A massive thank you to all the Search and Rescue dogs and their handlers who assist on operations across our region. Special thanks to the amazing volunteers at ASAR-K9—the countless hours you dedicate to training and readiness make a real difference when our community needs it most.

This International Dog Day, we’re shining a light on our work with the Australian Search and Rescue K9 Unit (ASAR-K9).

ASAR-K9 are a team of committed volunteers dedicated to training dog teams to respond to emergencies and find missing people in bush or country areas.

They work together with Victoria Police, VICSES and VicEmergency to play a vital role in search and rescue activities.

Today, we thank the four-legged heroes (and their volunteer partners) who are happy to lend a paw when we need them most. 🐾

You never know what your next job will be when volunteering with the Castlemaine State Emergency Service (SES)! Last week our crews were called to assist after a dog got her head stuck in a stone wall!

Luckily, we were able to release her quickly - and unharmed.

Thanks to our friends at the Castlemaine Mail for writing about the lovely pup's misadventure!
