✊ WE STAND WITH ASU WORKERS!
Today, our Bendigo Greens candidates stood side-by-side with Australian Services Union (ASU)workers right here in Bendigo.
The Victorian Greens are incredibly proud to formally commit our support to the ASU’s vital ‘Skilled, Respected, Equal’ campaign. Community and social services workers hold our society together, yet their essential work remains historically undervalued.
We are officially committing to:
1️⃣ Support a pay increase of up to 35%: The work value claim addresses massive shifts in responsibilities since 2012. It finally accounts for the impact of lived experience, social utility, and exposure to direct or vicarious trauma. This claim is proudly backed by ASU members nationwide.
2️⃣ Fight for sustainable funding: We will advocate for government contracts and grants to be adequately funded to reflect true, fair labour costs.
3️⃣ Collaborate directly: We will continue to engage closely with workers and the ASU to understand their unique challenges and work together on real solutions.
With the upcoming state election, it's time for a government that puts workers and communities ahead of corporate interests.
