🍇 Cessnock Vintage Festival, 1967 👑

A wonderful glimpse into Cessnock’s festival history!

This photograph captures the official party assembled for the crowning ceremony of the Vintage Festival Queen in 1967.

📰 While this particular photograph was not published, a similar image of the event appeared in the Cessnock Eagle on 21 February 1967 (page 1).

✨ Fun fact: The old Mayoral chair pictured here is still part of Cessnock’s history and is now proudly on display in the office of our current Mayor, Daniel Watton - Mayor of Cessnock!

🍰 Flashback Friday: Cessnock Show, March 1968 🍰

Who knew a pudding could be such a showstopper? 😄

Judges Mrs M. Blackhurst and Mrs A. Goodwin proudly display the winning 10 lb pudding at the Cessnock Show in March 1968. The impressive pudding was entered by Mrs R. Fletcher.

We wonder what went into making a pudding worthy of taking out the top prize — and whether there was any left to enjoy afterwards! 🎂🏆
