ROAD RESTORATION WORKS THROUGH TO MID 2027
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is delivering road restoration works across state-controlled roads throughout Ayr, Charters Towers, Ingham and Townsville. Works will commence on 28 September 2026 and are expected to continue through to mid-2027.
Roads to be impacted include:
โข Flinders Highway (Townsville - Charters Towers)
โข Flinders Highway (Charters Towers - Hughenden)
โข Hervey's Range Developmental Road (Townsville - Battery)
โข Gregory Developmental Road (Belyando Crossing - Charters Towers)
โข Gregory Developmental Road (Charters Towers - The Lynd)
โข Ayr - Ravenswood Road
Works will include:
โข spray seal works
โข minor insitu stabilisation works
โข removal of silt and debris from drainage structure and culverts
โข scour repairs
โข placement of rock protection
โข reconstruction of roadside concrete protections
โข backfilling and reinstatement works
โข repair and replacement of drainage infrastructure.
Works will occur from:
โข 28 September 2026 until mid-2027
โข Monday to Sunday
โข 6am to 6pm.
Road users can expect partial lane closures, stop/slow traffic, temporary lights, reduced speeds and short delays (5 mins, up to 15 mins for urgent works). Drivers are reminded to please drive carefully and follow traffic controllers and temporary traffic lights used outside work hours.
