People often find lizards with their eyes sealed, particularly when they are emerging after Winter. This can happen as dirt gathers around their eyes whilst bruminating. It can also happen when they shed their old skin as they grow each season. This girl had the old skin stuck around her eye which sealed it shut. You can bathe the eye with warm saline to remove the crusts and add a greasy eye ointment like chlorsig to moisten the lids which will then open up again like this one did and you can release them back home again. 🤗

This fellow has an infected eye. You can see how important the brush on the tongue is for them to collect nectar from flowers.
