🌐 Online safety starts early — and families play a vital role!**
As our youngest children begin exploring the digital world, it’s never too early to build healthy, safe and positive relationships with technology.
The eSafety Commissioner’s **Early Years Program** offers valuable, practical resources to help parents, carers and early childhood educators support children aged 0–5 to navigate the digital world safely.
💡 The program encourages four simple messages that families can introduce from an early age:
🔒 Be safe — Help children understand how to stay safe and protect their personal information.
💙 Be kind— Model kindness, respect and positive behaviour in digital spaces.
🙋 Ask for help — Encourage children to speak up and seek support when something doesn’t feel right.
🌱 Make good choices— Help children develop healthy digital habits and make thoughtful choices about the content they engage with.
Importantly, keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility. When parents, carers and educators work together, we can lay the foundations for digital wellbeing that will benefit children as they grow.
We encourage families and early childhood educators to explore these free resources and make online safety an ongoing, age-appropriate conversation at home and in early learning settings.
