🌞 Looking for an accessible outdoor activity?

Frankston Beach is home to Australia's Most Accessible Beach program.

Delivered by Frankston City Council in partnership with Accessible Beaches Australia, this innovative program was created to make the beach more accessible and inclusive for people with disability and their support networks.

With accessible beach matting extending to the water's edge, beach wheelchairs, walkers, transfer equipment, shaded cabanas, and on-site support, the program helped remove barriers and create a welcoming beach experience for all.

πŸ’™ The impact was significant: around 29% of participants had not visited a beach in more than 11 years, while some were able to experience the ocean again for the first time in decades.

Designed with and for people with lived experience of disability, the program demonstrates how inclusive design can create meaningful opportunities for connection, participation and belonging.

🌊 Because everyone deserves the chance to experience the beach.

✨ Meet Hannah, our Home & Living Coordinator.

A safe, supportive home can be life-changing. Every day, Hannah works alongside clients and their families to help navigate one of life's biggest transitions, finding a home where they can feel settled, supported and empowered to thrive.

What Hannah enjoys most about her role is getting to know each person, understanding what's important to them, and working alongside families and support networks to help make the move into a new home a positive experience. For Hannah, it's not just about finding a vacancy, it's about creating the right environment for someone to feel comfortable, supported and empowered to thrive.

One of Hannah’s proudest achievements has been guiding a participant’s housing journey from an initial outreach conversation through to moving into their new home. Seeing the life-changing impact of the right home and support environment is what makes this work so rewarding.

Thank you, Hannah, for your dedication to creating positive housing outcomes for our participants. We’re proud to celebrate the difference you make every day.

🌻 Not all disabilities are visible.

Did you know that 80-85% of Australians with disability live with an invisible or non-visible condition?

This Invisible Disabilities Week, we're raising awareness of the many disabilities that may not be immediately apparent, including autism, ADHD, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, mental health conditions, neurological disorders, hearing loss and vision impairment.

While these disabilities may be unseen, the barriers and challenges people experience are very real.

You may have seen the Disabilities Sunflower lanyard or wristband, which discreetly signals that a person may need extra time, patience, understanding or support in everyday situations.

At CareChoice, we're committed to creating communities where people feel understood, respected and included. By looking beyond appearances and challenging assumptions, we can help create a world where everyone feels seen, valued and supported.

This National Carers Week, let's make carers visible.

More than 3 million Australians, around 1 in 8 people, provide unpaid care to a loved one living with disability, illness, mental ill-health, age-related needs or other challenges.

Behind every caring role are countless hours of support, advocacy, patience and love.

This year's theme, 'Care for a carer: Making carers visible', encourages all of us to recognise, support and thank carers in our families, workplaces and communities.

While carers make an incredible contribution, many face significant challenges of their own. Recent findings from the 2026 Carer Wellbeing Survey highlight the experiences of young carers:

πŸ“š 65% feel they have missed out on their childhood due to their caring responsibilities.
πŸŽ“ 46% report falling behind in their school or tertiary studies.
πŸ’Ό 50% are unable to work as many hours as they would like because of their caring role.
🀝 Only 18% have been able to access dedicated carer peer support programs.

At CareChoice, we recognise the invaluable contribution carers make every day and the vital role they play in helping people live life on their own terms. We proudly acknowledge and support carers, not only during National Carers Week, but every day of the year.

To every carer: we see you, we value you, and we thank you.

There’s more than one way to experience music.

Many Deaf people connect with music through vibration, movement, visual storytelling and Auslan.

Innovations like haptic vests are creating new ways to experience live performances by transforming sound into vibrations that can be felt throughout the body.

🌱 It's Mental Health Month.

This year's theme, A Little Connection Goes a Long Way, reminds us that small moments of connection can have a meaningful impact on our mental health and wellbeing.

Connection looks different for everyone. It might be:
πŸ‘‹ Saying hello to a neighbour
🐢 Spending time with a pet
🀝 Getting involved in your community
🎨 Enjoying a favourite hobby
🧘 Taking a moment to practise mindfulness

Whether it's connecting with others or reconnecting with yourself, these small moments can help us feel more connected, supported and grounded.

At CareChoice, we recognise the importance of mental wellbeing and encourage everyone to prioritise the connections, routines and activities that help them feel supported, grounded and at their best.

πŸ’š Because sometimes, a little connection really can go a long way.
