🚲 The wheels are in motion for a safer, more connected journey through Alexandra Hills.

A new shared pathway is being built along sections of Windemere Road and Brompton Street, helping create safer connections for people who walk, ride and roll. The upgrade will also include new crossing points and improved lighting.

It's all part of Council's ongoing efforts to make active travel a more convenient option for everyday journeys, recreation and staying active.

🚿 Not all flood impacts come from outside your home.

As part of Get Ready Queensland Week, now is a great time to take simple steps to prepare your property for severe weather.

During periods of heavy rainfall, wastewater can back up through household drains if the sewerage network becomes overwhelmed. One simple thing you can do now is check your overflow relief gully (ORG). This external plumbing fixture is designed to help protect your home by relieving pressure in the sewerage system.

✅ Locate your ORG
✅ Keep it clear and accessible
✅ Make sure the grate remains uncovered

A few minutes of preparation now could help reduce the risk of wastewater entering your home during severe weather.

🌧️ Get Ready Queensland Week is the perfect reminder that severe weather can happen at any time.

With wet conditions and more rain on the way over the coming days, please take care on the roads and stay up to date with BOM forecasts.

Slow down, drive to the conditions, and never drive through floodwaters, even if there isn’t a closure sign. Your car can’t protect you. Play it safe.

If it's flooded, forget it!

Access forecasts, weather updates, rainfall radars and more through the BOM app. Download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play 👉 www.bom.gov.au/bom-weather-app

If you’re concerned your property may be impacted by more rain, you can view open sandbag station locations on Council’s Disaster Dashboard 👉 disaster.redland.qld.gov.au
