Proud to see young people from our Yeah, The Boys! Program at the Base @ Belmont Youth Centre taking action through the Keep Australia Beautiful 'Adopt-a-Spot' initiative. 🌱

Each term, the group heads to Tomato Lake for a community clean-up focused on teamwork, leadership, and giving back to the local community. The sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, with a little healthy competition to see which team can collect the most rubbish. πŸ—‘οΈ

Beyond keeping our environment clean, the initiative helps raise awareness about the impact of litter on wildlife, public spaces, and the wider community. It also encourages young people to take pride in their local area while developing responsibility, teamwork, and positive community connections.

The support from the community has been incredible, with many locals stopping to share encouraging words like:
β€œThis is great to see.”
β€œWonderful to see young people working hard to make their community look nice.”

A huge well done to everyone involved for making a positive impact one clean-up at a time. πŸ’š

Big news! πŸŽ‰ A group of local young people from the Base@Belmont have been nominated for the Insurance Commission of WA Road Safety Advocate Award as part of the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards WA.

In collaboration with the City of Belmont, WA and RACIgnite, they spotted a real road safety problem on Wright Street in Belmont and turned it into real change. Murals, bollard covers, and a whole lot of dedication later, their community is safer for it.

The numbers say it all. Unsafe crossings dropped from 110 to 89 and vehicle speeds near the zebra crossing came down too. Real change, made by young people. πŸ’ͺ

We could not be prouder. πŸ™Œ
