With harvest now in full swing in our areas, a friendly reminder that more and more tractors and implements are on our roads, they travel at lower than normal speeds and we need to be a little more patient when wanting to overtake these vehicles, only pass when safe and legal to do so.

What a day it’s turned out to be!
This morning a crew headed well into a neighbouring units patch to handle a tree on the great ocean road between Apollo Bay and Lavershill, on return into some road rescue training and then called to a casualty extrication with AV that turned out to be the Controllers mum who has been transported to hospital

Stay safe everyone and enjoy this amazing weather 🧡🧡

🧡 EXCITING NEWS FOR COLAC SES! 🧡

🚨 Strengthening Our Capability to Keep Our Community Safe 🚨

Colac SES is extremely pleased to announce that our unit has been successful in its application for a second Support 4WD Vehicle!

This is a fantastic outcome for our unit and a significant step forward in strengthening our operational capabilities and our ability to support the Colac community and surrounding areas.

The addition of a second Support 4WD Vehicle will allow us to deploy an additional crew during severe weather events and emergencies, meaning more volunteers can be out on the road responding to requests for assistance and helping keep our community safe when it matters most.

Importantly, this additional vehicle will also allow our unit to maintain operational readiness for boating activities and enhanced rescue operations, ensuring we can continue providing these vital services while other crews are responding to emergencies.

This is a major investment in the future of Colac SES and will provide our dedicated volunteers with greater flexibility and resources to respond effectively to the needs of our community.

👏 A HUGE THANK YOU!
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has been involved in supporting, preparing and progressing this application. Your hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the process have helped make this fantastic outcome possible.

We are incredibly proud of what this means for our volunteers, our unit and, most importantly, the community we serve.
🧡 More capability. More crews. Greater community safety.

Colac SES – Proudly Supporting Our Community.

With our agency being the control agency for flood and storm, you can understand that with this weeks weather we have had a few jobs like trees down and flooding in Apollo Bay and to top it off our amazing crew attended the let’s talk Colac 12 hr walk clocking up hundreds of kms between them.

As unit controller I take my hat off to each and everyone of them 🧡🧡

🚨 Thunderstorms and rain are forecast across much of Victoria from tomorrow through to the weekend, so now is the time to prepare. Ensure to:

✅ Secure loose outdoor furniture and other items
✅ Park vehicles undercover and away from trees
✅ Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater

🏕️ If you're camping these school holidays, choose your campsite carefully and have a plan if conditions change. Remember to:

▶ Camp away from trees and overhanging branches
▶ Set up on higher ground, away from creeks, rivers and streams
▶ Know your camping ground's emergency plan
▶ Set a watch zone for your campsite in the VicEmergency app

📱 For the latest warnings and emergency information, visit the VicEmergency app or website.

If you need VICSES assistance for storm or flood damage, call 132 500.
