On Wednesday, 5 August 2026, Station 259 attended the Condobolin High School Careers Expo, joining fellow emergency services and local businesses to support students exploring future study and career pathways.
Our crew provided students with a first hand look at modern firefighting, supported by the presence of FRNSW’s Breathing Apparatus and Hazmat Training Unit. Throughout the day, firefighters answered questions about:
• Training pathways: Entry requirements and application processes.
• Everyday duties: Incident response, station responsibilities, and community engagement.
• Firefighter roles: Operational expectations and community safety responsibilities.
• Emergency response skills: Teamwork, situational awareness, discipline, and decision‑making.
Students and staff gained a clear understanding of the teamwork, discipline, and practical skills required for firefighting, with many engaging in conversations about future opportunities in emergency services.
After the expo, the crew returned to station for a full evening of skills refreshers and scenario‑based training.
Regular training ensures our team remains confident, capable, and ready to respond to the wide range of incidents that may occur in Condobolin. These exercises reinforce teamwork and operational standards.
Station 259 values opportunities that strengthen connections between emergency services and the community. We remain committed to ongoing engagement, education, and preparedness, and look forward to future initiatives that support local students, families, and residents. 🚒🔥💪
