Thuringowa State High School Since 1987, we have developed strong traditions in academic excellence, sporting & cultural programs It is a young school, which opened in 1987.

Thuringowa State High School is situated in Vickers Road South in the heart of Riverway in the City of Townsville. In its short history the school has developed a fine tradition for academic excellence, sporting and cultural achievement and vibrant community spirit. It is especially noted for its small size, range of opportunities, acclaimed theatre restaurant, a very successful and pioneering Vocational Education Program. Thuringowa State High School serves students in Years 7 to 12, predominantly from its neighbourhood suburbs of Condon, Rasmussen, Kelso and Kirwan. Our students come from varied social, cultural and economic backgrounds and we provide initiatives designed to cater for the needs of all groups. The school has developed a strong tradition of providing its students with a large number of educational opportunities with an emphasis on development and extension of the individual.

Applications for the 2027 school year are now open!

We strongly encourage families to apply early to ensure applications are processed and bus passes are delivered before the start of Term 1, 2027.

๐Ÿ“ฌ Once approved, new bus passes will be mailed directly to the parent or guardianโ€™s nominated address in early January.

Year 12 students are encouraged to update their contact details in the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) student portal.

Graduates will receive an invitation by mail to participate in the Next Step Year 12 completers survey in March 2027.

Graduates may also be contacted by the Queensland Government Statisticianโ€™s Office by phone or email. You could win a laptop for participating!

Our Thuringowa SHS Community Connect Day brought together Thuringowa SHS students, Rasmussen State School students and families, and local community organisations for a day full of connection, wellbeing and fun!

From connecting with local service providers and community vendors, patting puppies and farm animals, to getting involved in laser skirmish and a range of other activities, there was something for everyone! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸŽฏ
