NSW SES Coolamon Unit Founded in 1955 - The NSW SES is the combat agency for floods, storms and tsunami in NSW.

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 228 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the State. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The NSW SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, the NSW Rural Fire Service, the Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW.

Paddy insisted on getting one more stop in on the Visit Coolamon Shire tour, so we stopped in at Marrar and visited the team at Marrar Kitchen & Co. Paddy has enjoyed the weekend so much and has a special video message for all of our friends a bit later this evening.

Helping our neighbours and communities is at the heart of what we do, so Paddy paused their Visit Coolamon Shire tour to come and check on our neighbours Narrandera Shire Council and NSW SES Narrandera Unit after last night's wild weather.
We stopped in at Barellan to check out the Barellan Working Clydesdales "The Good Old Days" Weekend and Paddy got invited to be in the Grand Parade.
After the Grand Parade, Paddy had a bit of a look around, said hello to our friends from Leeton Rescue Squad - VRA Rescue NSW who were providing first aid services, friends from NSW SES Albury Unit, NSW SES The Hills Unit & NSW SES Windellama Unit who were at the event and even got whip cracking lessons from Whipcracking by Emiliqua East.
Paddy loved meeting old and new friends and had so much fun, but had to be back in Coolamon for dinner, so will have resume the visit Coolamon Shire tour another time.

Our friend Paddy the Platypus is coming to help us and our friends from NSW SES Wagga Wagga Unit support our firefighting friends at the Coolamon Firemuseum Fire Engine Muster again this year. But this time, Paddy has arrived a little early and is going to have a look around the Coolamon Shire before the big day. If you see Paddy out and about, feel free to come and say hello. Also, do you have any suggestions for places that Paddy should see while out and about?

Southern Inland NSW severe weather
Stay indoors
Watch and Act

The NSW SES is advising people in the following area(s) to STAY INDOORS due to intense rainfall, flash flooding:

- Wagga Wagga
- Griffith

You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing.

What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises tropical humidity continues on the eastern flank of a low in the far southwest of the state, resulting in a broad rainband with isolated thunderstorms. This system is moving slowly eastward and is forecast to be over the eastern Riverina by Tuesday morning, with rainfall clearing from the west in its wake.

Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible over eastern parts of the Riverina, South West Slopes and Southern Tablelands overnight. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 70 to 90 mm are possible.

The risk of HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL is forecast to ease throughout during Tuesday morning.

Flood Watches and Warnings are current for the area. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts/ for more information.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
