Last night, Station 264 hosted a joint training session with our local Coonabarabran emergency services crews.

A massive thank you to Dave, Sarah, and Nathaniel from the NSW Ambulance Coona Crew! They did a fantastic job walking us through updated CPR protocols, pointing out key equipment locations on their appliance, and laying out clear expectations for assisting crews during medical responses.

It was awesome seeing all of our local emergency services represented under one roof:

Coonabarabran Rescue Squad - NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc.

Please be aware that a planned burn will take place today, Thursday, 6 August 2026, between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM (weather permitting).

📍 Location: Clarke Street HR – Coonabarabran (Clarke & Gordon Street, Coonabarabran, NSW 2357)

What to expect:
Visible smoke in the immediate area.
Local traffic delays may occur—please drive to conditions and turn on headlights if visibility is reduced.

Safety Tips for Nearby Residents:
Keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke from entering your home.
Bring washing inside.
Keep pets indoors.

If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication handy and stay inside where possible.

For real-time updates and emergency information, keep an eye on official local NSW RFS / Emergency Services channels.

🚒 Today we were pleased to invite the team from Fire and Rescue NSW to Cooinda for a site familiarisation visit.

While we hope they're never needed, visits like these are an important part of keeping our residents, staff and community safe. By taking the time to become familiar with our building layout, evacuation routes, fire safety systems and the unique needs of an aged care environment, our local firefighters are even better prepared to respond quickly and effectively should an emergency ever occur.

This visit follows Cooinda's recent review of our Emergency Management Plan and reinforces our commitment to being prepared for every situation, not because we expect emergencies, but because our residents deserve the very best planning and protection.

A huge thank you to our local Coonabarabran Fire and Rescue crew for their ongoing support of Cooinda and the wider Coonabarabran community. We appreciate everything you do, often behind the scenes, to help keep us all safe. ❤️🚒
