Come along to ‘River Connections: Science, Spirit & Story’, a workshop that blends science, wellbeing and connection to Country. 🌊

Participants will discover the diversity of aquatic life in the Orara River through eDNA water sampling. There will also be materials to create a DIY perfume or body spray with native essential oils.

This workshop will be delivered by Rhiannon Mitchell. Rhiannon is a Mununjali woman and the founder of Saltwater Sistas, a local business that empowers Indigenous women and youth in ocean conservation, wellbeing and culture.

This event will be held on the 25th of October. Tickets are limited and registration is essential.

This event is held as part of the City’s National Water Week (NWW) program. The 2026 NWW theme is ‘Water is life’.

Not our usual post, so here goes.

We’ve made the difficult decision to sell The General.

It feels like just yesterday that we were sanding floors, painting walls and ripping out shelves, getting ready to open our little café, and, to be honest, it really wasn’t that long ago.

Since welcoming our daughter in November last year, our priorities have shifted. Life is a lot different nowadays, and we simply don’t have the time we’d like to give The General the love, energy and effort it deserves.

We believe that the best thing for The General, the community of Coramba and the wider Orara Valley is for a new owner to take it on and make it something really special.

The café is fully fitted out with some fantastic new equipment, great suppliers, an amazing team of staff and, most importantly, some incredibly loyal customers who have supported us from day one.

We’re so stoked to have taken on this challenge, and while it’s a difficult decision to make, we’re excited to see what the next chapter could look like for The General.

So, if The General sound like a good fit for you or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you.
