Running 19 – 25 October, GambleAware Week's theme is 'Now we see it. Let's talk about it.' which aims to challenge barriers by encouraging open conversations about gambling harm. By talking about gambling harm more openly, we can increase understanding, reduce judgement and make it easier for people to seek support when they need it.

Gambling harm affects 1 in 5 people in NSW, yet only a small proportion of people reach out for help. Many people continue to view gambling harm as a personal failing rather than a health and wellbeing issue.

Don't wait until gambling has caused a crisis before reaching out for support. You can contact GambleAware 24/7 via phone 1800 858 858, or find resources and information at gambleaware.nsw.gov.au

🚨CLOSING SOON!🚨 The Community Grants Program closes Friday 23 October 2026. 💰

This program empowers local groups to develop ideas, projects, and events that contribute to the vibrancy and connectivity of the Federation Council region. We are encouraging all not-for-profit groups, sporting clubs and organisations to apply for a share of $40,000 in total funding for this year’s program. Don’t let your great idea stay on the drawing board, help us make our community even stronger!

💗October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging people to ‘Be a friend. Tell a friend’ by talking to their loved ones about the importance of regular breast screening so that more women book an appointment when they are due. If you're overdue for your breast screen, why not book with a friend?

🔎For women aged 50-74, a breast screen every two years is the best way to detect breast cancer early. A breast screen (also known as a mammogram) can find cancer before you notice a symptom.

This week brings the highly anticipated 27th Annual Urana Art Exhibition and Sale, proudly supported by the Urana Progress Association and Federation Council! 🎨 This is a wonderful opportunity to explore dozens of vibrant artworks from our region's immensely talented artists. It is a fantastic showcase of local creativity that you absolutely won't want to miss. 🖼️

Opening Night at the Urana Courthouse Museum is this Thursday, 15th October at 6PM, where a $25 ticket includes amazing art, guest speakers, nibbles, and a drink. If you cannot make it to the launch, the exhibition continues from Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th October between 10AM and 4PM, with a $5 entry fee covering both the amazing art and museum access. 🥂
