National Reconciliation Week!

During National Reconciliation Week, the Town of Cottesloe, in partnership with the Town of Mosman Park, was proud to deliver a series of meaningful events that brought our community together through creativity, culture and connection.

Over the week, we hosted three engaging workshops:
🎨 Local school students took part in a children’s workshop led by Noongar artist Buffie Punch, where they explored storytelling and Aboriginal symbols through art.
🖌️ We then welcomed community members to a guided adult art workshop with Buffie, creating a warm and inclusive space to connect through yarning and creativity.
🧵 Our final event, a Reflect and Connect sewing workshop with Nyungar artist Deadly Denim, invited participants to upcycle denim while learning, sharing stories and reflecting on reconciliation through creativity.

We thank everyone who joined us and helped make these events so special.

The Town has completed the Reflect stage of its Reconciliation Action Plan and remains committed to continuing this important journey and promoting reconciliation within our community.

Did you know that showers make up a quarter of the average household water use?

As our climate continues to change, taking shorter showers can help us better look after our shared water supply.

Aim to get your shower time down to 4 minutes or less.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) begins today.

It’s a time all Australians can learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey — the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Find out more about National Reconciliation Week at https://www.reconciliation.org.au/. All in for reconciliation.
