Vale Haydn Gregson - VICSES Craigieburn Honorary Member

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing last Monday of our dear friend Haydn.

Haydn was a great supporter of our Unit and assisted greatly in fundraising. Haydn was one of three local businessmen who went as a guarantor for a bank loan to purchase our first set of the Jaws of Life.

Haydn also served as a Shire of Bulla Councillor, in which capacity he helped the Unit in its start up period of the early 80’s - including our Ash Wednesday response.

Both Haydn and Linda attended our annual dinners for over 35 years. Haydn supplied and sponsored our annual leadership shield.

The Controller and members offer their sincere condolences to both Linda and family.

🌅 GOOD MORNING FROM ECHUCA! 🧡

Good morning from some of our team currently deployed to Echuca! 👋

Being part of VICSES means we don’t just help our own local community — when needed, our volunteers can be deployed to assist communities across Victoria and around the country. 🧡💙

We’re hearing reports of an earthquake overnight 👀🌏

Our crew here in Echuca apparently slept pretty well because we made it through the night without any disruption! 😴😂

But what about you — did you feel it where you are?

If you do feel an earthquake, remember:

🔸 DROP to the ground
🔸 COVER your head and neck and shelter under something sturdy if possible
🔸 HOLD ON until the shaking stops

Afterwards, stay calm, check yourself and those around you, look out for hazards or damage, and be prepared for possible aftershocks.

🌧️ The rain has arrived – are you ready? 🌧️

With rain already falling and more expected over the coming days, there are some simple things you can do to help keep yourself, your home and your community safe.

🧹 Make sure your gutters, drains and downpipes are clear
💨 Secure any loose items around your yard
🏡 Keep an eye out for any water building up around your property
❤️ Check in on your neighbours, especially those who may be vulnerable or need a helping hand

Our VICSES volunteers are ready to respond and help where required.

Stay safe, take care on the roads and look out for each other. 🧡

🚨HAPPY FATHER’S DAY FROM VICSES CRAIGIEBURN! 🚨

Today we’re celebrating all the amazing SES dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who somehow manage to be heroes at home and heroes in the community! 🧡

To the dads who drop everything when the pager goes off, head out in the middle of the night, give up weekends and family time, and somehow still manage to make it home in time to mow the lawn… 😂

But today, we also want to recognise the families behind these dads. ❤️

To the partners, kids, parents and loved ones who understand when Dad gets called away, support the long hours, wait up for them to come home and share them with the community — thank you.

Your support, patience and understanding make it possible for our volunteers to do what they do. You’re an incredibly important part of the SES family, and we couldn’t do it without you. 🧡

From all of us at VICSES Craigieburn, Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads — and a very special thank you to the families standing beside them. 🧡

Heroes don’t always wear orange… sometimes they’re the ones waiting at home. 🧡

This morning, members from SES Craigieburn and SES Whittlesea Unit were fortunate to visit Ambulance Victoria Air Ambulance for an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of their facilities.

We were given a fascinating insight into the vital work their dedicated crews do every day, from the aircraft and specialised medical equipment to learning about the coordination and teamwork involved in delivering critical care across Victoria.

A huge thank you to the Air Ambulance team for taking the time to share your knowledge, answer our many questions, and provide such a welcoming and informative experience. It was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our understanding of the important role you play in supporting our communities.

We appreciate everything you do and thank you for your ongoing dedication to keeping Victorians safe. 💙🚁🧡
