On this final day of , CISC supports the Raise The Rate campaign to lift JobSeeker and Youth Allowance to at least $82 a day in line with the pension. Not surprisingly, this makes it easier for people to find jobs, pay rent, AND put food on the table. Even The Business Council of Australia supports this.

The 11 - 17 October is Anti-Poverty Week. More than 3.2 million people in Australia live below the poverty line, including nearly 774,000 children. People are struggling to pay rent or mortgage payments, utility bills and put petrol in their cars. Never forget - the opposite of poverty isn't wealth; the opposite of poverty is enough. And everyone deserves enough.

Celebrating 55 years of CISVic!

This year marks 55 years of CISVic bringing people, services and communities together.

From our beginnings in the Citizens Advice Bureau movement to the statewide network we represent today, our history is built on the dedication of people who believe everyone deserves access to information, support and connection.

At our 55th AGM, we marked this milestone and reflected on the history and ongoing work of our sector.

Here's to 55 years of community support, and to the people making a difference every day!

This month, Victorians can receive free electricity between 11:00am and 2:00pm every day (yes, even weekends!). These three hours in the middle of the day can now be the best time to run your electrical appliances if you are home.
🚨 BUT! The Midday Power Saver is opt-in, so you need to phone your electricity provider to check that it’s the right plan for you.

Did you know… women 55+ are the fastest growing group impacted by homelessness in Australia?

Sadly, homelessness & rough sleeping impact women more than men, and the leading cause is family & domestic violence.

At the WALK IN HER SHOES homelessness forum today, politicians came together with the goal of ending homelessness in Victoria.

Lovely to catch up with Leanne from Community Information & Support Cranbourne Inc. at the event. Cranbourne CISS & Casey North Community Information & Support Service Inc.

Today is Census Day!
The data collected helps governments decide where to invest money to provide health, education, and other critical support services, including services for people who are homeless.

If you are sleeping rough, experiencing homelessness, or do not have a stable place to stay, support is available to help you complete a short version of the 2026 Census form and to make sure your voice is heard. We have two Census Officers at the office until Friday 14th August.

Please reach out if you need support, or share this information with someone who may benefit. Everyone counts in the Census.

This week is Homelessness Week, and Community Information & Support Cranbourne (CISC) continues to support people who are sleeping rough and others sleeping in precarious and unsafe environments.

We are not a housing service. However, in the past 12 months, CISC has supported 217 people sleeping rough on 730 occasions. We supported a further 402 people living in rooming houses that are often overcrowded, expensive, and unsafe. We saw 56 people who were couch-surfing, and many more living in cars or in motel rooms short-term. We can help with information, phone charging, meals, food, and shower passes. But what people need is housing, safety and dignity.

Homelessness in Australia is getting worse every day, and we can't keep waiting for change to happen. That's why the theme for 2026 is

🚨⚠️ Just a reminder ⚠️🚨
At 2:00 PM today, the AusNet national test will take place.
Your device will vibrate and you will hear a loud, siren-like sound.
If you do not want to receive the test warning, please turn your device OFF before 2 PM, and leave it off for about an hour.

This is just a test, so you don't need to do anything. In an actual disaster, you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
